Just got Boone on my replay. Cannot... resist... sniper... boy. *urgh*  Though I think his and ED-E's perks are the best anyway.  Lily's is also not bad.

I've been rolling with Veronica this playthrough and really like her character as well. A bit too "cutesy" but with some really fun lines, and her whole situation and quest are touching.

Is it only me or does anyone else think Fallout would be even more awesome if it was a little more like Mass Effect and Dragon Age when it comes to companions? Like party banter, (romance), and that you can have more companions with you? xD

Just picked this up yesterday and I'm thorougly enjoying it

It does have alot of bugs though, as alot of people mentioned.

I've just encountered a game-breaking glitch (Gave the chip to House, but never got a new quest/never got the chip back)

So I guess I have to start a new player all over again

If TES and FO had romances they would be perfect in my eyes. Though, for TES, they would seriously have to change the look of the people. The people in Oblivion were down right butt ugly, not to mention all very samey

I dunno, I think NV hit a nice balance on stuff like companions. I think the Fallouts were always more about the player himself and how you affect things in the wasteland, not so much about "emotional attachments" so to speak. I'm glad NV put some more effort into the companions but I wouldn't want any more focus put on them in the grand scheme of things. There are other games that does that.

EDIT: Just finished up Veronica's quest. Excellent writing there, very sad.

He is  hard to resist. My first PC was so into him, I just couldn't recruit anyone else for that playthrough.

Now, I'm playing a jerk dude who has a man crush on the Legion. Hard to force myself to leave Boone behind, but that relationship is obviously not going to work.

Recommendations on companions for "evil" playthroughs? Currently toting ED-E along, since he doesn't care.

Hmm, we dont seem to have any evil companions... Arcade hates legion, boone definitely hates legion... cant remember Cass and Veronica, not sure if Raul gives a s***....

Agreed on the companions. But they definitely have put more effort into these followers, so more to do with them would have been great, including romances. Far better than the third game, though to be fair i only really bothered with Hawke and Dogmeat.

Cass & Ronnie won't like Legion cos they know how badly Legion treat girls ...

... and that's why I can't bring myself to side with Legion. I've had NCR and Independent completes and now I'm working towards my House completion game but no way I am siding with Legion.

In every game when I met Vulpes Inculta, he died within the first minute after his blah-blah speech - my first completion had the PC as a hardcore unarmed specialist at level 5 who promptly shoved the pointed end of a Bladed Gauntlet into Vulpes' face and proceeded to bash the brains out of every other Legion scum present (both 2-legged & 4 legged): "Courier Smash Slavers!"

I want the achievements so im doing a legion playthrough now, plus ive already done the three others. I always end up ****ing out of the evil decisions though...

edit: hmm, they edit out that word. But what if i meant a ****cat?

I really hate the save system right now. Its okay at the mo since im not playing different PC's at one time but its gonna get pretty complicated when DLC starts coming out...

Lily gives Stealth Girl, it doubles the time that Stealth Boys last but more importantly gives bonus to sneak critical damage. But really, the other companion perks are useless. I'd like to get the companions to do their quests but geez. They really make it tough to let Boone go.

P.S. I'm new to modding and a little puzzled at the Fallout system.  I got one .esp mod to load (Stonger Dusters- yay!- I love that Sherriff Duster) but others I put in the same folder are not showing up.  Any advice?

Oh, my... the evil playthrough has occasional fits of funny, morbid though they may be.

First off -- never at all took advantage of dressing as another faction until now. My goody-goody girl was loved by one and all except the Legion, so she didn't really need to be covert. Now that NCR (in Ron White voice) "ha-a-a-a-ates my gu-u-u-u-u-uts" (/Ron White impersonation), I'm carrying around an NCR outfit so I can actually, uh, go get things repaired and stuff.  So, kinda cool... enjoying a new aspect of the game that was basically useless to my good character.

Also, took the Confirmed Bachelor perk and lulz are being had. Already been able to use it on two guys that... really didn't come off (IMO) as swinging that way, so it was a bit of a surprise and LOL moment to see the perk convo option pop up. I mean, once the Render Unto Caesar quest pops up and I go to Legion camp, I'd totally expect that perk to pop up when talking to, say, Vulpes Inculta.

But the really funny-in-a-morbid way comment is more towards the fact that NCR sends a ranger chick after you, who gives you three days to make NCR like you "or else." That was new to me. When she popped up to tell me I had two more days, I started to feel like I was being stalked. When she showed up a THIRD time and warned that she'd see me tomorrow, my dude couldn't contain his utter anticipation (aka annoyance) any longer and was like "screw this annoying chick" and killed her and the other ranger out of pure spite. And then stripped her ranger outfit, so now he's got a swankier-looking NCR disguise than that normal trooper gear one (with that, the hat, and the authority glasses, he actually makes me think of "Super Troopers" lol). Completely evil, but just the way it played out was hilarious.

NCR Ranger Chick: "You have one more day!" *scolding finger* "See you tomorrow, punk."

My dude: "O rly?"

But it's still hard being mean. Seeing (Vilified) underneath the NCR places makes me . And didn't have to worry about any sort of confrontation with Boone. Went up to talk to him, and he told me if I was an enemy of the NCR, I was an enemy of his and to bugger off. I was all like  and then had to remember I was playing my evil dude, not my goody-goody chick who's doe-eyed over broody sniper boy.

I might take the confirmed bachelor perk, but the cherze la femme (sp?) perk didnt often come up.... lost opportunities lol

My new character is pathetic. So sad that they made energy weapons useless, and am really missing the lack of ranged attack. Explosives are fun but there are so few opportunities to use them. I did pick up Veronica, but I'm going to ditch her again. I've already heard that "is it a dress" line one too many times. Getting a Leliana vibe from that chick. *shudder*



Had much more fun with my sniper. In fact, I'll probably ditch the whole character.

I don't really think the Energy Weapons suck, it's just that they don't match up to the Sniper Rifle (which is confirmed to be nerfed in the upcoming patch). I just completed an EW character and it worked very well I think. An upgraded Laser Rifle is a fine sniping weapon, the Laser RCW is great for cutting down people fast. And the Flamer/Incinerator are great for just setting plenty of enemies on fire at once, general mayhem. I didn't even get the best the EWs has to offer. But it can work just fine even so!

My character is at level 10 or so and she can do more damage with 20 Guns and a Cowboy Repeater than 40 or so in EW with an upgraded, fully repaired laser rifle. No range, no damage. It sucks.

I found it hilarious when she told me to go get layed one last time or something.

I really hated playing an evil charatcer and joining with the Legion. Unlike NCR I felt like they offered very little in return. Couldn't even find a decent vendor to trade with.

Raul is a pretty fun character. He has (sarcastic) comments on everything very frequently. Cass has a lot of (typically loud-mouthed) comments as the story progresses as well.



But Boone.... he is like an autistic Carth Onasi.

They seem to just despise me. Since I killed the NCR stalker on day two of my three day "warning", nothing has happened so far. I assume the stalker and her sidekick would have simply attacked me on day three. I got the jump on that by killing them early, it seems. But all NCR are immediately hostile to me, so I have to wear an NCR disguise to go into their specific towns/terriotories and do business/complete quests.

So far, as early in the game as I am (haven't done much of the side quests this time... trying to hurry the main quest up to Render Unto Caesar, then do side quests as a full-fledged Legion supporter), the Confirmed Bachelor perk got me reduced repair prices with the NCR guy at Mojave Outpost who repairs stuff (Major Knight, I believe is his name), and I was able to move the main quest along without doing "Come Fly With Me" by being sympathetic/flirtive with Manny Vegas in Novac.
