I found it hilarious when she told me to go get layed one last time or something.

I really hated playing an evil charatcer and joining with the Legion. Unlike NCR I felt like they offered very little in return. Couldn't even find a decent vendor to trade with.

Has not been very rewarding so far. Helped the Powder Gangers out right off the bat, but that seems to end very quickly (haven't followed up at Vault 19 yet to see if anything better comes of that saga). Will see if joining the Great Khans is possible. Othewise, had my dude say all the right things to the Legion in Nipton and I'm simply "neutral" to them (though that took me from "neutral" to "vilified" with the NCR... do they have every place bugged or something???) right now. Guess I can't be "liked" by them until "Render Unto Caesar" becomes an option. Unless nuking the NCR with the Helios One secret weapon causes their gratitude? Haven't gone there yet, but obviously this character will go that route once at Helios.

I went back and am re-making my PC into a gunslinger. It's a rut, but I guess it's my rut. *sigh* I'll probably have to make a male character to do a Legion game.  Then again, I never did blow up Megaton...

I wouldn't bother with Legion unless you want to go for the achievements.

Going for independent Vegas with you as the ruler seems to be much more interesting so far.

... and that's why I can't bring myself to side with Legion. I've had NCR and Independent completes and now I'm working towards my House completion game but no way I am siding with Legion.
In every game when I met Vulpes Inculta, he died within the first minute after his blah-blah speech - my first completion had the PC as a hardcore unarmed specialist at level 5 who promptly shoved the pointed end of a Bladed Gauntlet into Vulpes' face and proceeded to bash the brains out of every other Legion scum present (both 2-legged & 4 legged): "Courier Smash Slavers!"

Randomly curious, but if you kill Vulpes Inculta back in Nipton, then who does the Legion send to "parley" with you after you confront Benny at the Tops?

@Addai -- I hear you about Megaton. Never had a character that actually played through like that. Did the deed one time just to see how it played out and to see ghoulified Moira, but then promptly reloaded. Besides being just wrong on so many levels, it's terribly unpragmatic. Why remove an entire area of trade and commerce you desperately need?

I'm replaying but finding it really hard to finish the game. After confronting Benny the game really takes a nosedive with everyone sending you to places you've already visited multiple times.

Somehow FO3 had tons more replayability even though the story was even more linear. It may be because the Mojave feels so cramped compared to DC, you can't really take two steps without bumping into one of the factions.

Also, the really great sidequests easily get lost in the plethora of inane fetch quests. In FO3, most of these inane tasks were not marked quests.

Unless I'm missing it, there's no quest where it feels like "now we're money, this is gonna be awesome" and no quest where you see major changes across the world. For me in FO3, the former was the Reilly's Rangers quest (I loved that one!) and the latter was where the Enclave showed up. So there was a feeling of momentum that I don't get here. Combine that with an absolutely dullsville final battle, and it really is just wasting time. Which you can do in Fallout to a remarkable degree and still have fun. But, it is a bit of a letdown.

I just couldn't help but feel like the ending was rushed. Which seems odd to me as they clearly could have cut more pointless stuff to make a great ending if they had to. Oh well.

Hmm... just watched a simpsons episode where at the end there was an apocalypse, and that 'i dont want to set the world on fire, i just want to start a flame in your heart' started playing. Brings back nostalgia of number 3...

Did you know Matthew Perry did VA in NV? I had no idea! He does Benny and i didnt have a clue....

Yes, and Dave Foley did Yes Man. I should have recognized that as soon as I heard him.

I realized that Duncan's VA is also doing Easy Pete and No-Bark. Can't believe I didn't realize that the first time, either.

Some of the NCR dudes also has a VA that is also in DA. I think he does the voice of that guy trapped in the Fade when you do the Wizard's tower segment. Not 100% sure on that though.

I think the best performances are Chief Hanlon and Mr House though. If you watch the making of DVD, you can especially see how the guy playing Mr House is a *really* good voiceactor. When you watch him read his lines, it's just plain *weird* because it almost doesn't look/sound as if the voice is coming from him. It's very different than his normal voice, and yet totally believable. Sign of a great voiceactor.

Very different than his normal voice? Really?
I didn't know what voice actors they used before playing the game, yet I immediately recognised Mr. House's voice as belonging to Rene Auberjonois. Sounds exactly the way I know it from the various roles he played in several of the Star Trek series (and one film), constable Odo from DS9 being the best known one.
Only wish Armin Shimerman (best known these days as the voice of Bioshock's Andrew Ryan) voiced a character in New Vegas too, as he played Quark on DS9, Odo's "nemesis".

I noticed the female Elf voice from Oblivion/Morrowind on a few occasions. Very distinctive voice, strangely enough she wasn't in FO3.

Oh, that could be.

Sandal/ Finn is the voice of Freeside, a.k.a. every single King's dude.  You especially hear Finn when you get in good with the king and he's running up every 2 minutes saying "heyyy, you're the one doing all those great things".  And then he gives you a Grilled Mantis Leg or whatever.

I loved Chief Hanlon.  House is good too, and also Vulpes Inculta.  I mean that guy oozes depravity right there.

Duncan's VA also does the doctor in Jacobstown.  That's the first Duncan I picked up.

I'm pretty sure that the Elf voice can be heard from Lacey over at the Mojave Outpost. She's the bartender with a slightly masculine voice which I heard so often in Oblivion.

Anyhow, I played through the game twice already and love it. I forgot that this site had a thread specifically for Fallout New Vegas so I have a lot of posts to read through.

I do know what I want for Christmas, though. The PC version of this game because some of the mods out there look like serious fun!

Would that Easter Egg be if you walk down a certain, steep hill on Black Mountain (lined with bear traps, just to add an extra element of "fun"), a giant boulder suddenly starts falling down after you and you have to run for your life to avoid getting squished (and afterwards, you see some of those less fortunate adventurers at the bottom)?

Found that completely by accident. Just about pooped my pants IRL because that was soooo unexpected, honestly. Posted Image

There is also another (if you have Wild Wasteland) where you find a fridge with a skeleton and a hat in it.

We're encountering a bug with the Cowboy Repeater, the game freezes up and won't let you shoot or loot (the horror), you can go into VATS but you can't shoot. It will unfreeze if I run a few steps, but it's super annoying, especially since that's my go-to rifle early on.

It's a known bug, it also happens with some other guns like the revolver that uses the same ammo (not sure if it's just guns that use that particular type of ammo in fact).

Huh, bummer. They need to get some patches out. We didn't find it on our first game so it was odd to encounter it now.

There were problems for some people apparently, then they tried to fix it with the first patch. But after that, even more people seemed to get the problem, so yay for patching I guess, haha.

That said, they've been working on the patch for a while now and I'm pretty sure OEI is done with it. Not sure why Beth is sitting on it. Hopefully it means it'll be tested thoroughly at least.
