We're encountering a bug with the Cowboy Repeater, the game freezes up and won't let you shoot or loot (the horror), you can go into VATS but you can't shoot. It will unfreeze if I run a few steps, but it's super annoying, especially since that's my go-to rifle early on.

Still encounter that bug. And your go-to rifle early in the game? Pssh,I used that thing throughout the entire game for my first playthrough. Love that gun.:P

Happens to me all the time. especially since I love the cowboy repeater. Most recently it happened when I decided to chase Cook-Cook.

Once I got Ratslayer, I only used them for repairs.  Thankfully didn't encounter the bug on that.

So, it's been a while since I last saw the original Indiana Jones trilogy (and have not seen the new "Crystal Skulls" movie). Am I completing forgetting a scene where someone is discovered in a fridge? Or is the suave gambler's hat inside of it the only Indiana Jones reference?

I got the Wild Wasteland scene, FWIW, and just thought it was awesome creepy... didn't get the Easter Egg vibe (not quite like being chased down the side of a mountain by a giant boulder a la Temple of Doom style).

In the 4th Indy movie, Indy escapes a nuclear blast in a fridge. It has to be a reference to that.

So is it Wild Wasteland that made the rats in Broc Flower Cave into "Rodents of Unusual Size"? I didn't notice it the 1st time so I'm thinking so.

Think so yeah.

Other references with Wild Wasteland I can think of:

-"Romanus Eunt Domus" written on a wall in one of the Legion controlled areas (Cottonwood Cove?). Reference to Life of Brian.

-Being attacked by a bunch of old ladies when exiting the abandoned computer lab (or whatever it is, where you recruit Fisto). Reference to the "Hell's Grannies" sketch by Monty Python.

-Near the end, you can listen in to a radio emergency broadcast. Apparently the soldier broadcasting have some lines referring to Aliens, the whole "Game over man! Game over!" speech.

-Near Goodsprings, you can find a corpse of a guy called Johnny Five-aces. This is a reference to a large discussion a while back on the somethingawful forums about a guy wanting to make a game of his own.

-And of course, the holy handgrenades.

There's also the aliens somewhere in the north who carry the alien blaster.

Must have the wild wasteland perk... this isnt something i gave my new character since i rarely encountered anything. It kept coming up at the battle of hoover dam whenever legion soldiers came by, but i still dont know why...

I want to start a new character but I'm afraid I might overwrite some saves. Anything to fix this?

That bug apparent affects most of the Guns boosted by the Cowboy perk - without it, I would want to pick it and play a Cowgirl Courier.

As it is, my current charator is an automatic guns user (Riot Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, All-American - all lifted from Vault 34 - she wished she brought a Fire Axe instead of a shotgun to that place).  She current keeps the Mysterious Magnum as her holdout (concealable) weapon though.

Hmm, i think Cowboy and Handloader seems to mesh quite well - most of the guns affected by Cowboy use ammo that have special handload ammunition (.357, .44, .45)

Waiting for a patch to make Energy Weapons rock before restarting my E-weapons run

I don't have that perk, but I guess you mean it just affects those weapons.

You get a warning that it will overwrite autosaves, but it shouldn't erase hard saves.  Of course, saves have a way of disappearing in this game in general.

The Wild Wasteland perk affects some encounters - you should be aware of what you changes if you do pick it.  For instance, the unique (and more powerful / ammo efficient version of) Gauss Rifle is available only without WW perk - with WW that encounter is replaced with some other crazy weapon (that yields a powerful weapon with very limited ammo).

If I was playing an energy weapons Sniper, I would definitely avoid WW.

Hmm, thought I would share with you this very *special* moment.:D

Celebrating the battle of Hoover Dam.
Cain and Cass can't dance to save their lives, but hey, there's the Whiskey(LOT of Whiskey) for this kind of problems.

BTW:
As a hopeless Bioware junkie I simply refuse to take Cass' NCR Male-Courier ending seriously, and I WILL have my appropriate retribution! Be right back with teh pic to prooove it! :alien:

I am about halfway through I think. Not a bad game. Surprisingly buggy I have found but good nonetheless.
