I think its a bug caused with the faction armour covering your status with the faction - desguise. Whenever you put on eg a NCR armour your stst with that faction goes neutral, weather you are idolized or vilified...methinks. I think this is obligatory for some quests. Nevertheless it should only be applied when you're below neutral, right?

What he means to say is that you take no penalty to reputation while wearing factions' armor or clothing. It's not a bug by the way, it just how the reputation system is designed. I think it's pretty stupid too. Maybe if the game had  masks that did this instead. They should've made it more like other crimes in the game. If seen by others then it effects the reputation system. I mean how is anyone going to know you killed a group of people in the middle of the wasteland with no one else around. 

Biggest Exploit: Lay Frag mines around the npc & set it off without targeting the npc (i.e. misplaced grenade or shoot at the fragmine). Who needs faction armor.

I am assuming you are on PC?

Hit the console key(should be below the ESC button) and type showracemenu

Well, you can always console-edit you face, save, quit, and restart-load again. That way the achievements should be left intact no? O_o

I'm not sure if that would work... Is there a mod so I can still have achievements while cheating?

I killed Mr. Holdout because he refuses to sell to me AND his holdout weapons are useless (My sneak is 80). I love my silenced sniper rifle.

 Alright, I just got New Vegas yesterday.  Has anyone else cleared out the Powder Gangers' base and still has it marked as stealing once they are all dead?    I'm having a hard time figuring out why killing the guys = good karma but picking up a pencil in the bunker = bad karma.  The only lore reason I came up with is that technically it belongs to the NCR still.

You nailed it. Technically you're stealing from the NCR.



Not that it matters, I steal the crap anyway. The karma loss is negligible.

yeah its a stupid thing, i cleared it out ALONE and it was still marked as stealing, so no one owned any of it :\\

I'm not sure they can untag items like that. I think it might just be another down fall of the engine.

Never mind, karma seems to have no bearing in this game, only faction reputation.  I steal like a bandit from good guys and bad.  Just have to go into sneak and make sure no one is watching or they'll go berserk.

If anyone else gets threatened by the NCR rangers, make sure you're well prepared for the final assault. Must have been.. 6 of them? Best to leave your companions at home too, if youre on a mode they can die on. Definitely not great if youre as low a level as i am at the mo

That encounter can definitely hurt a lot if you're not prepared for it, or if you just come directly from another firefight.

Some people like to shoot the ranger in the face as soon as they give the first warning as a pre-emptive measure.

Indeed. I was concerned about stealing, but I don't seem to have shifted from Neutral at all. 

I'm actually surprised at how well the game performs on my 7600GT (My 9800GT died the week I got New Vegas. Gah ), and if I tweak the settings a bit more I should be able to get a bit more draw distance. The game doesn't actually look that bad in motion, either. Current mods are really just FO3 presets, I added one to unlock other races, a raider-esque face for Cass and a UI mod.

Not sure where I am at the moment, I'm just doing a load of side quests. I'm not that bothered by the main quest once again, and I'm just running around for the NCR and doing their quests. Only companion so far is ED-E (Who's a bit annoying), but I've met Cass, Veronica and that guy whose name I forgot (Boone?).
