Hmm, guys... What is the fastest way to reach Novac to get Boone, from the beginning?

I stick to highways early on myself, so I go south via Primm and Nipton (usually swing by Mojave Outpost to get those quests) and then loop back up around.  It looks like you can go overland via the NCR Correctional Facility faster.  I usually end up someplace like Scorpion Gulch if I try that.

As for sniping weapons, I didn't find any need for anything else once I got the Ratslayer.  We cleared out the quarry from a relatively safe perch up by the crane.  It was almost too easy.

I think Scorpion Gulch is the only alternative, unless you go north and play with the deathclaws or supermutants which are at least as bad and the route more tortuous.  Even at higher levels I hated dealing with the bloody radlobster infestation along Scorpion Gulch; so I usually took the extremely long way round through Nipton.  Which of course involved plenty of getting shot at, but it was marginally less tiresome!

Actually I seem to recall there might've been another pass somewhere southeast of the NCRCF, but I forget the details now.

I personally just suck it up and deal with the Death Claws myself but thats just me lol.  If you're quick about it and very careful you can avoid getting aggro from both the Super Muties and Claws because there is a small "safe zone" right between Black Mountain and just west of that if you scale the hills and such that you'll narrowly escape both.  I usually save quite a bit when I make the trip though just in case I do end up aggroing one or the other.  I also tend to make the trip at night so that it makes "sneaking" a little easier as well.  However, aggreeably the "safest" route is to take the long way around going through Nipton and then North from there where the story pretty much has you going anyway.  If you can happen to secure a Stealth Boy or two before you make the trip north from Sloan it'll definately make things easier Image IPB

I want to steal the ledger from Ceasars tent to finish Oh My Papa quest...

You have to go there from Cottonwood Cove. Click on the drum under the barge & it'll take you there or Speak to the Guy standing on the wharf . And only after you have completed the quest Ring-A-Ding-Ding.

I tried approaching it from the north and got most of the way there until an invisible barrier hindered my process and a CTD rather sealed my fate.  Follow jsachun's suggestion instead and head to Cottonwood Cove!

Been listening to 'Big Iron' outside of the game, and it's incredibly fitting for NV. It's growing on me quite quickly :D

Ugh...I've already been to Cottonwood Cove and had to kill everybody there...will the raft work in that case?

And I sneaked into Bennys apartement and found Yes Man...but got the Ring-A-Ding-Ding later which didnt update at that point as if I was never there...did I brake it? Or will entering the room (again) update the quest?

The raft still works without anyone to pilot it, fortunately!

Not sure about Yes Man: I imagine it should still work, though a lot of FNV quests need some prodding with the console to unstick them.  Hopefully that won't be necessary in this case.

Semi-spoiler: Wow, I just recruited Boone. I never laughed out this much before. (I got the real culprit too. Though I should've asked for the room key before he shot that person...)

Talk to whatshisface in the dinosaur. He takes over the hotel and will give you a key.

You have to kill Benny & loot the platinum chip or pickpocket him for it (if you can/untested), before the ring-a-ding-ding quest is completed.

As soon as you walk out of the Tops, Ceasar's spy will approach you & tell you, all your past crimes against the Ceasar will be forgiven as Ceasar wants to see you. You should be able to then access The Fort from Cottonwood Cove from there on. Also your reputation with Ceasar is reset to neutral so do all the Legion Killing quest before completing Ring-a-ding-ding, if you don't want a tough battle once you get to the Fort.

After playing for 20 hours... My current opinion of the game is:

Sick, sick sick of Fallout New Vegas. I'm going to trade it for credits instead and get Mass Effect 2 on PS3 once it comes out. Fallout 3 is way better. The f*cking bugs, the new leveling system EVERYTHING f*cking sucks in this game. The only thing I liked so far were the reputations but other than that, a big f*ck you to Obsidian. They just f*cked up an amazing game and gave it a different setting. HATE IT! Heck, my Evil Karma doesn't seem to bring anything to my lines or peoples reactions. I wanted to play an evil character to terrorize NPCs, I steal, I kill and yet I don't feel like this game is rewarding at all. Not to mention the frustrating Hardcore mode.

Edit: Does it get any better? I don't want to regret my choice of trading it for cash. <_<

I could tell you it gets better, but to you my opinion probably wouldn't mean much as I think New Vegas is, right from the start, quite superior to Fallout 3 in almost every single way.

So I'll just say nothing at all!

Meh... I guess it's all about personal opinion. Really. I thought F3 was a masterpiece, even with its DLCs which makes it an even bigger game. I'm way too frustrated with FNV right now to play it again so I'll just try to cool off a few months before they patch it up again.

Personal opinion indeed.
It seems however that among those who played the original Fallouts back in the day (like me), a vast majority prefers NV over 3. So I guess there's a nostalgia element included when it comes to this preference.

Speaking of the original Fallouts...here's (scroll down) a remastered version of the Fallout 1&2 soundtrack available.

It is definitely individual opinion. I didn't play the original Fallouts, but I personally have enjoyed NV more than FO3. I didn't think 3 was horrible, mind you, but I have enjoyed the environment and characters of NV more. So, it can't *just* be nostalgia, though it does seem like that plays a role.

I have hesitated to recommend NV to people, though, because it seems like opinions are all over the place with it. I'll just wait until someone else says they enjoy it... then I'll talk their ear off, ha.

Nope, not yet got Dead Money, as it's still an Xbox exclusive atm with no word at all about a PC release.
Let's hope the next 3 DLCs, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road will get simultaneous releases on all platforms.

I wish I could play Dead Money, but my understanding is it is only available on the XBox so I just have to wait and hope it appears on the PC.

Nothing has been said officially about any new DLCs, but Zenimax has registered the names of these, and Honest Hearts is also referenced by the filename of some the game's graffiti textures, which is how Dead Money was first discovered.

Scroll down for some bits of info on them. Seems like they're going to add in more things from Van Buren through these DLCs.
