Besides why would Beth use an exclusive  digital distribution system created by Valve to distribute Valve games exclusively. There is no commercial benefit in using something exclusively that isn't even created by its own software company.

I guess they wanted to continue using a digital distribution system, but after their experience with what was a widely publicised fiasco with GFWL they probably decided to use an alternative that's generally better tolerated.

I'm not saying Steam isn't also a pain in the rear, but it seems to be the lesser of two evils.

Well, FNV is not, otherwise it'll be available on GFW marketplace for purchase. It's got that logo on the boxart, because it was going to be but Obsidian droped it at the last moment.

In that case, no, you clearly don't know the difference between GfWL and GfW.

Games for Windows is a certification system that sets a standard across all games under that banner; They have to have seamless 360 controller support along with a number of other features. It does not define what DRM the game uses; Fallout: New Vegas uses Steamworks, Alpha Protocol doesn't (Probably uses SecuROM, not checked).
Games for Windows Live is more akin to Steamworks in that it gives achievements, allows for social features, can be used to purchase and distribute DLC along with other features.

They are not one and the same, but a Games for Windows Live game has to adhere to Games for Windows standards.

You should check this http://www.microsoft...us/default.aspx & this http://msdn.microsof...1(v=VS.85).aspx, especailly point S.4 regarding GFWL.

As an onlooker, I'm not sure what point you're making here.  GFW and GFWL are still not the same thing: GFWL must adhere to GFW's standards but it provides additional functionality not present in GFW.  Which is more or less what OnlyShallow89 already said.

I was talking about distribution & OnlyShallow89 was talking about GFWL. Do you not agree Steam is the only distributer of Fallout NV for PC?

It's also distributed on disc, with Steam providing updates in much the same way as GFWL provided updates for FO3.  I seem to be lost as to GFW's relevance, though...

Edit: just checked my disc and it says "Games for Windows" on the cover, if that's at all relevant one way or the other, though I have a number of other games that say the same thing that were unlikely to ever be GFWL enabled.

Well if it is GFW certified it should be on the games for windows website & it's not. DOW 2 is a classic example. That uses steam & it's on the website.

And it doesn't matter whether it's distributed on Disc, it's still a steam version.

Not necessarily.  Looking at the first two games on the shelf behind me I see Sacred II and Risen are both GFW certified but they aren't listed on the website either.

All certified Games for Windows Titles receive these marketing benefits:

[*]Title featured on gamesforwindows.com

[*]Microsoft quote provided for use in any Public Relations materials

[*]

Seeing as it's on Direct2Drive, no.

There one & the same thing now. If it is on games for windows, it's on the market place. And what's available on D2D is still a steam version. Besides we all know why Fallout NV was outsourced, because Betheseda was busy working on ES5 & other titles. I'm sure Beth will work on FO4 and it'll probably end up being a lot better.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong... Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong - You're wrong.

Find me Wolfenstein, please. Oh, wait, you can't. Sacred 2? Again, nope. New Vegas? Nope. Lego Star Wars #2 (I think it's #2)? Nope. Only GfWL games are guaranteed to be on there by the looks of things, although a number of GfW games (The vast majority) are on there.

Well done. Steamworks is the only PLATFORM for New Vegas, it is NOT to do with the distributor. Steam, Direct2Drive - They're distributors. That's it. Steam is NOT the only distributor of New Vegas - YOU said it was, and YOU are wrong. Stop changing the argument to make it look like you're right, because you're not.

P.S. it's en-GB for me.

How about providing us with direct links to the GFW games we've mentioned?

Slight change of subject.

FNV dissapointed me yet again :(

I heavent started a proper main quest, didnt event confronted Benny or seen Mr House...and I reached lvl 30...and thats it? Kind of lame I tell you. My incentive just dropped by a quarter.

What the hell are you arguing about?

I can't quite remember.  I think it started off as the relative merits of French vs. English cheese.  Of course English is superior: everybody knows that.

I held back for a while, because of the bloody Steam thing.

However, a friend of mine showed me the game, and gave me a cracked exe-file, so I could just intstall the game, and then paste over the .exe file, without having to install Steam (again). So I watched him play for a bit, said: "Hell, yes." and went and bought the game.

So far it is GREAT! Really, it is everything I've dreamed off... and it gives me so much hope regarding Skyrim when released later in the year, because with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Bethesda. with a helping hand from Obsidian, seems to finally have understood what was wrong with the old TES-games: The boring and monotonous, repetitive NPCs and the utterly uninteresting interaction with them.

If Skyrim is going to have the same sort of interaction, atmospehere and NPCs, it is going to be the greatest fantasy cRPG ever!

I pretty much felt the opposite about New Vegas' NPCs, but I think I've already been there lately.

Edit: to sum up, I guess that's pretty much saying "you can't please everyone".

I can't finish this game . . . I seem to have developed "Altis".

This has never happened before. Is there a cure?

it's easy to break that quest or get stuck with Cachino not allowing the right dialogue option.

Troike is in one of the rooms in the lower level of the Brimstone Club

Apparently there were 122 vaults in the US and there were also many areas that were not bombed.
