New trailer for Honest Hearts, the New Vegas DLC coming out next Tuesday (17th). With plenty of The Burned Man!

IMO, this looks orders of magnitude more interesting than the Dead Money trailer.

Will definitely be playing the DLC when it comes out though I really wish we knew about what level it's balanced for. Also, for anyone wondering, they've confirmed that none of the upcoming DLCs will strip you of your gear like Dead Money did and you will also be able to return to the areas once you're done.

Though Honest Hearts will have a limitation on the gear you can carry because you join a caravan to travel to the DLC area (and as such it's assumed you carry stuff for the Caravan, so you'll have to pick carefully what gear to bring along). A great solution I think.

Can you bring companions along?  Solo is the worst part about DLCs.

You can't bring any companions along, though you do get your first companion a little after the start of the DLC.

Unless you accidentally shoot him like I did. :P

Consider that a warning though, for anyone starting up the DLC. Be very careful who you shoot at the start of the DLC, if a Quest Failed message comes up, it means you probably shot someone friendly.

Hehe, though that encounter was a bit clumsily set up, I have to love Obsidian for once again giving us the choice of just shooting whoever we want if we wish.

As far as the DLC goes, not nearly as much character interaction as Dead Money though this was to be expected. In terms of its overall feel, it feels like Point Lookout in terms of its design goals, an "open world DLC" so to speak. Zion is really well realized considering the engine, having great fun exploring it.

I like the conversations with Boone but I hate bringing him anywhere because he becomes basically like God Mode. he kills everything before I have a chance to even get into the fight.

I usually activate Cass for the Whiskey Rose perk and just leave her in the outpost so she doesn't die. Whiskey Rose is the best companion perk IMO. if you constantly drink whiskey you get huge DT and STR boost.

If you're like me and on the fence regarding getting Honest Hearts here's some gameplay footage, gotta say though it does look like good fun and is open-world-ish which is always good.

Honest Hearts in Action.

I bought Honest Hearts the other day, but won't have time to play it until the weekend.

Out of all the announced DLC, it seemed to be the one with the most interesting story elements. Now, I'm a bit worried after reading THIS ARTICLE that Honest Hearts suffers from a lack of story-related quests.

...it's a real shame that any interesting moral questions or themes are shoved to the background in favour of rote mechanistic missions that send you scuttling through the scenery, shooting and scavenging, while never requiring you to engage with its inhabitants in any meaningful way.

I think that's just a case of 'DLC syndrome' where the worlds and locations in them are not quite as fully realized and detailed in comparison to the vanilla content, comparing it to Point Lookout seems apt. Also there's WEATHER which I think has been absent in the recent games so this does look good at least visually at least perhaps?

That said there's Old World Blues and Lonesome Road coming in the next couple of months, so there's still more to look forward to.

Chris Avellone(writer) didn't have anything to do with Honest Hearts, whereas he worked on New Vegas and Dead Money. So the lack of 'realization' could be in part due to that. I haven't purchased and played it yet though.

It's not a story-focued DLC at all. If you compare it to Dead Money, there is a whole lot of less talking, narrative and story in Honest Hearts. What's there is good and interesting but the emphasis is definitely on exploration for this particular DLC. It does feel like New Vegas' version of Point Lookout in terms of design goals.

And yeah, Zion is really well made overall I think. Really beautiful in places despite the aging engine and fun to explore. It does rain there occasionally which was a nice surprise.

I play sniper characters, so the combination of ED-E's and Boone's perks can't be beat.  The distances with which I can pick things off is ridiculous.  But fun.  Only complaint is that I wished Boone would yell "headshot!" like Garrus.  Instead when I get an enemy he hasn't seen yet, he often asks "what's your problem?"  Image IPB

I've read some reviews of Honest Hearts and think I'm giving this one a pass as well.  I'm not playing FNV any more so there seems little incentive to fire it back up.

That's too bad, from the description, I was expecting a really cool story relating to this mysterious man who had a role in founding Caesar's Legion.

The Dead Money trailer and promo stills didn't appeal to me for some reason, maybe it has to do with the color palette.

On the other hand, I have been looking forward to Honest Hearts since the moment I figured out that you couldn't find the Burning Man in FNV. I'll try it this weekend I suppose.

It is very short. Im really surprised after Dead Money. The new environment is beautiful, but the story itself is cut short it feels.

That does sound dissapointing, I wonder if this is because people were expecting more of the 'legendary' Joshua Graham?
