People overexaggerate. If you don't have any mods then it should be fine - just get latest patches and community bug fix compilation. If you do have mods then you better be ready to recognize the possible conflicts and proper load order.

There are a few user-made mods that can improve your New Vegas gaming experience. Mine is modded beyond recognition and it is still fairly stable...well, comparing to other Bethesda games.

Even if you don't know anything about modding, it is definitely a must-have.

What mods do you consider "must haves"? For either FO3 or FNV, since I'm playing both.

I'm just gonna list a few New Vegas mods that I think you have to have without changing the game content and the gameplay too much.

NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender): It is required for many mods.

Fallout Mod Manager: For installing and uninstalling mods.

Stutter Remover: For smoother frame rate. You definitely need this. (Requires NVSE)

MTUI: Better user interface that still looks stock.

Inventory Sorter: Currently supports Dead Money. Support for future DLCs will be added...hopefully.

New Vegas Re-Animated: Better animations.

 If you like to play in Hardcore mode, I found the following two very small mods absolutely essential.


Harder Hardcore Rates you can increase the rates as you like. I found "Refined Rates" to be the best.

plus- one of the following:

Expensive Wasteland 3x Increases all merchant prices by 3x

Expensive Wasteland 5x Increases all merchant prices by 5x

Expensive Wasteland 10x Increases all merchant prices by 10x



Without this, food and drink are too plentiful and cheap and you only need to sleep about once per week. After installing these mods, I actually run out of food and drink frequently and am almost always suffering some negative effects from dehydration and starvation. I actually died from dehydration a few times.

Massive improvement and the mods are so small that they have no impact on frame rate or load times whatsoever.

If you want to go a step further, you might want to look at Arwen's Realism Tweaks - takes the game to a whole new level of realism and suvival, including wounds that get infections, much better balanced combat, etc.

I do like modding the Beth games, that is a huge plus. One thing I did do with ED-E, and it looked god awful, but was hilarious, was modding ED-E to use a rocket launcher. I played as Sarah Lyons in Vegas as well. I liked her looks for some reason.

XFO-NV, it's a massive re balancing overhaul like Arwen's Tweaks but it adds a Perk with a pet Deathclaw that you feed and raise as you level up.

In my abandoned AAR playthrough, I've got a little baby Deathclaw pet I'm raising... called it Goris.

LOL That's hilarious.

On this last pt of FO3, I was escorting Dad to Rivet City when all these explosions started around me- come to find out Dad had picked up a rocket launcher and was going to town.

He's adorable. Like a little puppy who never stops following you. It's made all the more adorable because of how the AI is focused on you, so basically, he'll always stare up and look at you no matter what you're doing.

Eh, that is a bit bugged with the new patch, I suggest using this one, which is even Charisma based aka the older Fallouts.

Hmm mods are the only reasson I would like the PC version...sigh no AK for me...

Actully though why weren't there any AK like weapons in NV? I mean surely some Chinese weapons someway or another would have made it there.

Anyways, any new news for the next DLC's? (In terms of new weapons mainly.)

Those AK47 are boring. Sniper Rifle and Shot Gun are the best weapons for open areas and close ones like vaults. But few vaults just need a baseball bat to be cleaned!

Never really used a sniper rifle but when it was needed (rarely) same for shotgun given on my game I ran across so few of them. On the other hand I had like 15 fully repaired AK's and 20 Full up M-16's. Snipers and shottys? Two. So yeah the AK pretty much was the only thing I had short of Chinese Officer swords. And I didn't want to spend caps on ammo or repairs so AR's were my meat and potatoes and fit my play style that and the Rebar clubs. On the Other hand I had every megaton house upgrade, and **** load of surplus things to sell and like 600K caps.

So, apparently I was close to the end of the game (I was in the strip and I think I was in the house with those white glove dudes?) About how much longer do I have to beat the game, and after I leave that house place, can I do the extra dlc before the end? Can I do it after?

I think it's this one.  I dl'ed it and he's hilarious.  Makes a lot of noise, but he's a good little gecko killer.  Unfortunately he can't carry inventory.



When he idles, he sharpens his claws and picks at his teeth.  lol
