@Jvolikas

It usually takes him quite some time to get to his shack. He walks all the way from Black Mountain. I'd say wait a few in-game weeks and see what happens. If he doesn't show up after a long wait, he might have died on the way to his shack. If he did, you could probably just restart your game, put it on Very Easy to rescue Raul really quick to get the achievement, and then re-load your original game.

There is a possibility he was killed on the way to his shack. I had that happen to Veronica once, I fast traveled to the 188 trading post and a legion hit squad showed up and proceeded to slaughter everyone before I could kill them all.

I figure that is what happened as well.  Thankfully I had an old save before doing the Black Mountain quest so last night  I loaded up, got Rex and Lily again as well (the save also didnt have them as companions yet) and then did Black Mountain again and recruited Raul to get the achievement.

Now to tackle the various endgames, gonna go Legion first just to see what happens and then will decide between NCR or Independent as my actual ending.

I wish they made a Caesar's Legion expansion pack where you could have explored Colorado and seen Legion cities.

Agreed chunkyman I would have liked to learn a little more about the Legion from someone who wasn't an enemy. You don't even learn that much from Caesar or his men. I think the ability to get a companion, maybe someone the NCR wronged or something and traveling to Colorado to see the fruits of Caesar's workings would be awesome.

Ulysses from Lonesome Road was originally going to be the pro-Legion companion, but they decided his story worked better as a more shadowy figure.  He was a Legion courier and frumentarii, though by game time had gotten disillusioned similar to Boone with the NCR.

Actually it was more time constraints than anything else. You were supposed to be able to meet Ulysses in Wolfhorn Ranch

Raul explains why he has no real issue with the Legion, and his backstory ties into why he wouldn't take issue with brutally dealing with the raiders (like the Legion does). Even Cass notes how the Legion effectively protects the caravans in ways that the NCR simply can't.

I think Marcus gives good insight into the issues with the Legion and the NCR.

Very true, but I would have liked to have alittle more info on the Legion. Like I said above you don't even get a good reason to side with Caesar, even from Caesar himself beyond work for me or I will cruicify you. Sure that's sorta how the Roman's did business back in the day. But I would have liked a little more insight into the character of Caesar. Even Joshua Graham wouldn't tell you much about him other then his real name is Edward.

The real Romans used honey as well as vinegar. They were actually pretty good at making people want to be Roman. Which is why the Legion's story confuses me a little. The Twisted Hairs help them subdue Arizona, so Caesar wipes them out to set an example? That makes no sense. It would make more sense if they picked a rebellious tribe to obliterate, rather than their own allies.

I think what the writers were going for was the fact that "Look what we did to our allies. What do you think we will do to you." I agree they definately took the worst aspects of the old Roman Empire to create this new Legion, it would have been nice to see the fruits of the Legions work.. besides the crucifictions and the do as we say or else stuff.

I thought he forcibly assimilated them into the Legion? His whole plan is to remove cultural identity, so that only the Legion remains; it seemed in-character for him (especially given what Arcade says if you bring him to the Fort). Also, Ceasar is the kind of guy willing to kill you for asking him how he is doing. I enjoyed introducing him to Boone.

You're right, he used them as scouts and then enslaved them but only crucified those who resisted.  Still very heavy handed.

I don't know if *spoilers* tags are needed, but this post has them!

If you meet Ulyssess as a Wild Card, he pretty much slams NCR the whole time and talks pretty good about the Legion. He kind of reminds me of Lucius.

Damn, though, Ulyssess pretty much tells you upfront that the Legion would've won the Second Battle of Hoover Dam had the Courier not been involved. His words about Lanius pretty much sealed the fact that everyone has him misunderstood. The man is a brute, but he is a brilliant tactician; perfect general, but terrible emperor.

I like how Ulyssess tells you the secret to the speech checks with Lanius. I always thought that the checks were really out of place since you know nothing of the man. With Ulyssess information, you can role-play the diplomat better.

I can just imagine if Bethesda gave them one more year to make New Vegas, or they should've been given them the greenlight to make an expansion pack. Other than that, I pretty much got Van Buren with all the DLC. Unless Obsidian regains the license, I'm calling it a day on the Fallout series.
