Are Quarians religious? I haven't seen anything in the Codex about this, but this would explain a few things, including the phrase "Keelah se'lai".

"Keelah se'lai" may be the quarian equivalent of "Allāhu Akbar" in Arabic, as indicated by Kal'Reegar saying it as a battle cry against the geth Colossus.

The Quarians seem to be based on Arabic culture with some Czech thrown in for the fun of it. "Keelah" is obviously their version of "God". "Keelah se'lai" seems to be something like "God be with you" or so.

Czech + Arabic = Bosnian

The Geth displayed religious tendencies so why not Quarians? Every life has religion weather or not individuals choose to fallow such is for them to decide we know Asari have one and I hope they pull in Turian and Quarian at least BW should give real meaning to Keelah se'lai though if Keelah on its own means God Tali sure says it alot maybe it means Protector or Ancestor sense they do practice a form of ancestor worship as displayed by their tradition of ship records the way they desperately care about what is written in them suggest they fallow more of the Japanese Ancestor Worship and the phrase Keelah se'lai could mean by Protection of the Ancestors or Ancestors Protect Us.

If you read the codex, it says they practice (practiced?) a form of enlightened ancestor worship, taking personality imprints and preserving them in semi-sentient VI form that could be conversed with. Although I'm not really sure how any worship could be considered enlightened.

Ignore that garbage about the quarians being based on "Arabians" wtf.

*facepalm*

Back to the topic, I presume the phrase has something to do with thanking the fallen or their ancestors or something along those lines.

Well Bioware go out of their way to give the Quarians Arabic or Czech accents for some reason. Tali sounds like both.

And that has what to do with their religion?

Someone at some point decided to give the Quarians specific accents. It makes sense that they'd choose that based on what real culture they based the Quarians' on.

I'm thinking the accents are something that is more related to their vessel of origin than something that is ubiquitous for thier race. Play Tali's loyalty mission in ME2 and you will hear a number of different accents coming from quarians. One of the vioces is Logain's from DA:O. Tali's accent does not appear to be the norm in otherwords.

On religioun, yes they have religion and no, belief does not indicate some absence of enlightment. Lack of respect for religion, however often does. Image IPB

Am I just imagining stuff or why do I think Tali or someone in the game actually told you what "Keelah se'lai" means if you ask? And I believe it was pretty much what Rybciek said
