I'm playing a Human Noble Warrior character on the PS3 version and I'm on the same boat as some people here: My profile page still shows my full-body character picture with the starting gear. Already checked the Diagnostic page to see if there were any errors... There were none to be found.

I made some tests and I think I understood why someone it fails, there are 2 problems connected , since the game uploads these pictures (picture and avatar) ONLY 1 TIME (on first game save) , if it fails you will never be able to have it uploaded.

So the problems are :

1) the pictures may be not uploaded at all so you will not notice the second one

2) the pictures may be loaded on first time but even if you change your character equipment you will never be able to have your character picture updated.

A workaround to the first one is quite simple : you must have a social.bioware.com account and make sure you are connected both on PSN and dragon age servers BEFORE creating the character, then you will be able to upload your character.

I tried with 5 characters (to complete all origins stories since I've already created my first one and I didn't want to delete it since it is at lv 19) and only one were not uploaded (the pictures I mean) so I suggest you to begin the game, save the first time and then wait about 1 hour to check if the pictures are uploaded, if not you can simply delete that character and recreate it.

I'm pretty sure that if you don't have a s.b.c account and connected on game you will not be able to upload it ( I created my first char before having an account)

About the second problem I don't know any workaround.

Everything suggests these two are not related.

So what you just said is that I can upload a character without having an account? Good to know.

I'm not positive -- it's virtually impossible to figure out the persona URL manually, and even if you could the data might not display (properly) without a co-existing BioWare account -- but it does look as though the data is uploading to the server regardless.

Ok I have had this problem with my DA:O pics being corrupted for over 2 months now...... Why can't Bioware respond to this problem and get this fixed......I have two character pics. One is my warrior character I played since release (that one has been whacked for over two months) He started out ok but somewhere along the line for some reason his pic went totally blank......The character pic on this post is supposed to be my new mage I created last night and as you can see it is a scrambled mess....... All my othere data seems to be uploading to BSN ok ..... I want my character pic and I want it nooooow.......Bioware please respond and help us.....

I asked to a BioWare developer and he says that this is a game bug, not a website one, perhaps with the patch that will be released on 4th of March for PS3 there will be a fix for this.

As I've already said, If you really matter about this pic you should start a new game, save ASAP , continue another game or do something else for about an hour and then get back to this site to see if all went well, if not you have to recreate it, also I have a character with this problem and I cannot solve since the solution is to delete completely the character (here and on PS3) and start it over, I don't think I will do this for the problematic character because I'm at level 19 and I'm almost at the end of the game.

If you want to use your character avatar to use in this site you can always create a new character, try to do it as much is possible similar to the one you prefer and simply save the first time and make sure this char is uploaded fine here.

I'm sorry but these are the only things we can do until a game fix is released, that may be or may be not included in the upcoming patch.

Oh well, it seems I'm not the only one out there with the problem. My portrait vanished too, though there are no error messages. Mabye it's connected with my character changing classes to the Arcane Warrior? I did so yesterday and since then all my pictures are gone...

Ah, just found out the problem. I started (don't ask me why) the launcher as an administrator yesterday. I now started the launcher with just a left click, and -yay- my character protrait reappeared in the online profile. Maybe that's it. ^_ ^

ok, i read this entire post (all 4 pages thus far actually) and to make sure i understand this correctly, i thought i'd outright ask. i am on a ps3. i did not create a bioware account until i had all but completed DAO. i've never had profile or portrait pic. i have now started DAA and it now lists my character twice (my original lv23 character from completing DAO, and my now lv30 character imported in DAA). technically i already had a bioware account when i started DAA (obviously not DAO though so that may have something to do with it). should it not have uploaded the pics when starting DAA if it apparently only updates for console users in the beginning of the game? or would that be only the initial charater creation? if i delete both characterd from the website, on my next in-game save they should automatically be saved on the website again, right? i have already gotten the patch for ps3 from march 4th and noticed no change regarding the character profiles. have i missed something? i will not delete my in-game character nor would i believe that could possibly be expected as a fix. surely not. so basically my long-winded question is am i just SOL on the profile/portrait thing? i know this does not affect gameplay, but it is quite frustrating when everyone else seems to have these awesome character shots in their profile and i have a red x. i feel so left out. :( on another note, nearly everyone here who has complained about their profile pic not showing up has one with the exception of just a few myself included. did you find a resolution that was not posted here?

ElvenGoddess, see 2.2 and 4.3 in this thread. I am going to guess that the trigger is character creation but I really don't know, especially given that DA:OA is standalone on the consoles.

snoteye, what a lovely name! :)
also a great write up. thanks! i figured i would just be SOL. but thanks for the help anyway. i still wonder why some of the previous problemed portrait/profile pic posters (try saying that a few times in a row) have pics showing up their posts and mine is just the dreaded red x. did they do something different to help resolve or ya think they just created new characters? anywho, still love the game. thanks for the reply. you rock! :)

They have either had alternatives to switch to or have since created new characters that have managed to upload successfully.
