Will some people find themselves unable to play as a rogue?

Needless to say, rogues were my favorite class in DA:O. My first character will definitely be a rogue in DA2.

That was my second run, and I had used a sword-and-shield dalish elf warrior for my first. When I switched to rogue for my second playthrough, I was quite literally astounded by how fast everything moved. It was all 'stab-stab-swing-slash-riposte-weapon sweep'! Two weapon fighting seemed so much more ferocious, and I do think that fighting like a rabid werewolf would be a nice fit for a well known champion.
Cheers for rogues!

I've had about seven playthroughs of DAO and I've been a rogue for one, it's just something i can never bring myself to do. To me it just makes very little sense why the Prince of Orzammer or Teyrn of Highever would know how to picklock. It was only as a city elf that i managed to convince myself that it made sense.
I'm wondering if people will play as a rogue in DA2 on their first playthrough because for it's something that i just won't be able to do.
When i picture the Champion of Kirkwall i either think of a great warrior who can fight off any enemy or a mage whose spells can kill dozens not someone whose defining ability is that they can make it harder for people to spot them or they pick a lock.
This would never have crossed my mind. I've read too many mysteries in my past. Lord Peter Wimsey, Nick Charles, not noble but wealthy, Cary Grant in to catch a thief OK maybe not a nobel, but he's Cary Grant. A. J. Raffles, English society upper crust.
My Katherine Cousland learned the tricks from her mother's old friends when they came to visit her. Her mother was a "battle maiden" which is mentioned when you meet her right after the attack. They never talked about it, but her parents met when one of her mothers partners tried to pickpocket him and got caught. Her mother talked her father out of killing him and the rest is history.

That and the DA2 rogue video kinda pushed me even further away with its jumping around like a ninja weirdness. oO
p.s @GodWood you should have gotten the mod "open lock" for mages!. =)

Yup, Kriea from Star wars taught me one thing: Depend on yourself, because there will be tmes when your friends won't be there for you.

Actually, Ninja do not jump around (The real ones at least) They focus on mostly, Espionage, Sabotage (Arson mostly) and Assasinations.
Also, they work in pairs.

But seriously, my favorite play-through on DA:O was my archer-rogue.

Duelist and Dual-wielder go hand in hand as a perfect combination in DAO, particularly for a noble.

Still can't make myself play all the way through the game as a warrior. Not quite sure what it is, I just found myself increasingly bored during battles when playing as a character that just swung around a weapon. Playing as a mage was a little more fun for me, because of the ice spell spamming.
But yeah, most of the time I found myself playing as a rogue. They just come across as far more versatile. Especially in DA, since you can just our some points into str to wear some of the better armor.

Of course, from what I've been reading, it sounds like the rogue class had some modifications for Dragon Age 2, so I know I'll be trying that out eventually. Just maybe not at first.

The ROFLcopter spin attack and need to spin and flip every 2 seconds is making me rethink my choice of making Hawke a rogue, unless I feel like laughing throughout the game.
I loved the skill when Hawke flip backwards (that's the right word?). I mean, let's say a Ogre. He has a great attack but slow speed and Rogues are about speed. It just makes sense that a Rogue can dodge the attack of a slow monster. O.K, maybe they could have made something more sutile than a jump, but I still liked it.

Well, there is that. Just going on the promotional material so far, it looks most interesting to play this game as a mage anyway.Brockololly wrote...

I love mages, so I'm not arguing against playing them, but we haven't seen much yet, and in one thread from a few days back, Mary Kirby mentioned that there are paths in the game that only non-mages can take just as there are mage-only paths.
