Will some people find themselves unable to play as a rogue?

I'm considering making my main a warrior though, if I like the interface of them enough. Mainly because I do enjoy fighter type characters, but never really played them much in Origins.

Bored nobles will entertain themselves in any number of ways.
My first toon was a bored human noble who fancied himself a swashbuckling playboy, and didn't approve of being stuck in the stupid castle so he went around pickpocketing, breaking into places he wasnt meant to enter, and sleeping with everybody.
And I made him look like Errol Flynn.

you get to enjoy the world while sneaking to cut the throats of your enemies, not to mention you can open all the goodie chests and open any locked doors..

lol I love playing as rogue. Duel-weapon Rogue with high cunning and dexterity is my thing. Speed, evasion, and backstabs galorrrr! Skills like dirty fighting, evasion, and later ghost and flicker almost made my rogues untouchable. When it comes to making a fighter, I just prefer them to be nimble and agile, rather than brute strength. As someone said, rogues have the opportunity to make a more versitile team. I played a warrior once and I found it annoying that I needed to bring Leliana(or Zev) everywhere or risk having to backtrack in order to pick a lock for a chest or door. With my main character taking care of all that for me, I can have Zev or Leliana concentrate of their skill tree. I think I also have OCD when it comes to picking locks... it must be me that does so, ME I SAY!
As for working it into the origins, well the Howes are nobility and they're rogues. Can't see why it matters. I'd like to think my noble dwarf or human were the rebellious-sort. While most, if not all, of their family were warrioers, they were more interested in the other arts of fighting; seeing the value of speed and cunning tactics in battle. During the final battle of the game, when you're forced to play another party at the gates, I always switched from fighting with Sten or Oghren to either Zev or Leliana. Sorry, but they were sooo slow in their strikes, that I found it unbearable to play them.
I'm excited to see how the rogue plays in DA2 with the improved battle engine.

I'm wondering if people will play as a rogue in DA2 on their first playthrough because for it's something that i just won't be able to do.
When i picture the Champion of Kirkwall i either think of a great warrior who can fight off any enemy or a mage whose spells can kill dozens not someone whose defining ability is that they can make it harder for people to spot them or they pick a lock.
I had NO problems playing a HNF rogue.
I roleplayed it that my father brought in retired rogues from the Rebellion to teach me when I had no interest in being a warrior.
Use your imagination.

When I make a rogue, I always make them into a duelist. They are master sword-fighters, just not trained in the use of armor. Like I imagine nobles training their child in sparring for example.
Exactly.
And there is NO rule saying you have to learn to pick pocket.

Any person, noble or not, can learn to pick locks. Maybe the Prince or Teryn was a shady kid and was always going places he shouldn't, hence learning how to pick locks?

I love mages, so I'm not arguing against playing them, but we haven't seen much yet, and in one thread from a few days back, Mary Kirby mentioned that there are paths in the game that only non-mages can take just as there are mage-only paths.
You know, the first time I read that, I imagined it said there are PANTS in the game that only non-mages can take, just as there are mage-only PANTS.

But yeah, as others have said Rogue is more akin to 'scout' than 'thief', so they have more skills to make them adaptable. I usuall play a sword 'n' board tank but currently I'm going through as a medium armor duelist/assassin.

More of the opposite for me, Mage mainly then Rogue a few times couldnt be a warrior in Origins way too boring

I felt the same way about it. Dwarf castless, and city elf were the only ones who I thought it made sense to play as rogues. On the other hand, I always played as a warrior , anyway. I just like it better. Not that keen on stabbing in the back and such.

I can never get going as a warrior - I just get bored with their slowness. Usually play a rogue, only ever wear light armour... I love rogues..
