Hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys think sice I can't seem to make up my mind and I am about to go through the disabled collector vessel to pick up the weapon training. So, please provide answer and why thanks.

Edited: After thinking about it and reading what you guys have to say I decided to go with the shotgun. Mostly due in large part to the fact that engineer are given great defense strippers such as incinerate for armor and overload for shields. As well, are given crowd control abilities such as the combat drone and cyro blast. So, I figured that with all these great powers, why not just go up and finish them off with a shotgun to the head. Plus, its just so much fun.

However, now that I got the shotgun I was wondering what would make for a great bonus power since you have to get one if you start a new game. At first I was using reave but it made the game to easy and well its cheap in my opinion. Then I figured why not try either neural shock, flashbang or stasis as they all incapacitate a target while I move in on them. What do you guys think?

Engineer already has good ranged attacks. You may want to keep a shotgun handy for "close encounters".

I'm kinda the other way on engineers I prefer a sniper (usually the viper). I use it to extend the effective range of my powers using the scoped power trick. You can always use the tempest for in close work.

It really comes down to personal preference.  Just make a save right before you pick and try both.  That way you'll find which suits your style and tactics better.

I guess it would depend on how often you rely on the drone in combat and how close you like to get.

I prefer range so I'd also go sniper and also if you get the flamethrower, since the shotty's could be redundant,

otherwise you could try the collector particle beam and have a shotty for close encounters.

The SMG's affords so much flexibility for this kind of choice.

Shotguns provide the most fun there is in the game for me, so I tend to go shotgun happy pretty much regardless of class. I've found that shotgun engineers are hella fun, particularly when teamed up with mordin and either another drone wielding squadmate or with grunt acting as a secondary drone.

I go Shotgun.

The Drone is just so damn good at distracting enemies.

:P I prefer Assault Riffle but between Shotty and Sniper, I go Shotty for engineer because I feel that it compliment the class better. Already have other means (incinerate) to deal with armor.

I could go either way. I usually play infiltrator so I ususally go sniper, but the shotty is just plain fun to have around.

If you have the weapons dlc use the GPS, it's part SG and part SR - it can strip defenses with a single shot at almost any range. Very flexible gun and the sound and looks fit the Engineer imho.

Shotguns. Just like sinosleep, I think shotguns are just way too much fun to pass by. The engineer's skills synergies well with point blank shotgun shots. Sniper is powerfull, but not nearly as entertaining.
