Yep, I'm sure I saw a Sacred 3 board on the Sacred forums. I don't know what's happening with it, though, but I wouldn't be surprised if Deep Silver or Kalypso were involved.slimgrin wrote...
I thought they were making another Sacred game, or at least someone is. They also made DarkStar one..I think. A pretty cool Space sim from back in the day.
And yeah, DarkStar One was them. Sadly, it never worked for me. DRM FTL.

Kasumi, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker were of poor quality? You might have a point with all the weapons and appearance packs, but then again, they're not trying to sell you on anything that they aren't.Gandalf-the-Fabulous wrote...
...the fact that most of the DLC Bioware has released outside of the Cerberus network has been of poor quality and are little more than an attempt to squeeze that little bit of extra cash from their consumers (not to mention the totally horrible expansion called Awakening).
As to Awakening, I loved it. I felt it included an interesting twist on what we THOUGHT we knew...and added another layer of complexity to the world of DA

Ha, there was a time when they were innovative and one of the leading devs in the industry. That time has passed and they make mostly average games now.
Imo the best are:
Bioware
Bethesda
Valve
Blizzard
maybe Rockstar
I'd like to list CD Projekt solely for one game and their impeccable values as a company, but we'll have to see with TW2 just how good they are.

RPG: my all time favorite is Bioware (for Baldur's Gate series, KotOR, Mass Effect series), though I do not like their greedy dlc policy at all. DA2 and exclusive content only unlockable by preordering? Seriously...)
Other good studios: Bethesda (mainly Morrowind, Fallout 3 too, NOT Oblivion), CD Projekt (The Witcher - very good debut, also very good support and company standards - that counts too!). Lastly, I'm very curious what Obsidian is cooking up next. Hope they have it in them to become a major player on the RPG market... We need more good RPG developers these days!
Since I'm a RTS fan too, Relic Entertainment (Dawn of War Series, Homeworld series, Company of Heroes) is the best at the moment and my all time favorite. The Creative Assembly (Total War series) was good too (arguably still good, but their newest games lack the modding tools/support that makes their games potentially awesome).
Also, I like Egosoft (X series) for their stubbornness to still make space exploring games. And the company support is great too.
Can't really speak for about genres, though Ubisoft Montréal has made some good games too.

One game is proof of nothing. That is like saying a band is great because they have a great song. You need at least three or four top notch games before you are a goid developer. As Slimgrin said, they have some *excellent* values (Such as supporting no DRM on their products) and CDProjekt, as a whole, are a very respected company in Poland - They don't get like that for nothing.
Going by what we've seen of The Witcher 2, I think it's safe to say that it'll be another brilliant game. CDPR are a good developer, and they proved it with one game.

I agree and I kind of worry about the current state of CD Projekt. The two co-founders already announced they are leaving. Bad timing before their second major realease. And I'm really interested to see if CD Projekt will move away from The Witcher and create their own RPG universe.

They also made the Wing Commander and Privateer games, which are some of my favorites ever.

You might not like their style but that's why we have: best and favourite.
I've seen many, many claims about how they've gone downhill and how they've sold out. However, almost all these claims are never backed up by arguments or concrete observations. Most of the time I suspect it's just a perceived slight on the part of the poster when they make the facts they do.
I'll also say that that goes for any gamer and game company, not just Blizzard.

That explains why the written material for Diablo 3 is so great. Did not know Leonard Boyarsky worked on Arcanum.
Ugh, now I'm even more stoked for D3

CD Projekt had bought out Metropolis studios and people from both are collectively working on TW2. Then vets from both studios formed their own studio called 11 bit just recently. Then the two guys who formed CDProjekt left their positions, but didn't actually leave the company. Weird. Lots of stuff going on over there but I think with the recent deals they have made, with GoG looking to stick around, and with how good TW2 is looking, I don't think they're in trouble. And if you've seen interviews you know they show an interest in gaming in general and will likely tackle different genres.

Shal, you need more then one game to be considered a good developer. You need more then two or three. More then four.
As good as The Witcher is, it is one game, the strength of which is the story and the way it plays out and the options you get, and they outsourced the setting and story.
Going by what we've seen of The Witcher 2, I think it's safe to say that it'll be another brilliant game. CDPR are a good developer, and they proved it with one game.I strongly suggest you look up Bungie's development history if you think they only have Halo.Ghost Lightning wrote...
Bungie (Even though all they have is Halo)
Yes CD Projekt is very respected publisher on our country and they deseved it for their hard work. And I think that their idea to start create games is a great move
but back to the case:
1.Bioware
2. Blizzard
3. Bethesda
4. (not official) CDPR
Cheers from Poland
