I beat ME1 several times and sold it. I imported my charcter to ME2 with no problem, and deleted all but one saved file from ME1. I ran through ME2 and beat it as a vanguard. I've recently decided that I want to continue my mass effect experience as an adept. Problem is, I can't change my class between playthroughs, only with a new charcter or importer character. So I try to re-import and and it wouldn't come up because the only saved game I have is in the middle of the story. So, do I have to just finish out the story?

Yeah, it only imports saves from finished games.
