Almost every time I open NWN it minimizes to destop once it gets to the main menu.   Once it does, the only way to close it is through task manager.  If I try and maximize the screen flicks between black and the menu, then back to the desktop again.  Very frustrating!  I've managed to get in a couple of times, and when I have I've managed to play for a few hours no problem.  Close it and open it and it'll minimize back to the desktop!

I've applied the CPU affinity as -1, although that is overwritten whenever I start the game.
Using the NVidia control panel I've disabled the Threaded Optimisation.
I've run both nwn.exe and nwmain.exe as administrator and in XP SP3 mode.
The game is installed in F:\\NWN (Separate drive from windows, which is on C:).
I've tried disabling the Windows 7 Aero effects.

Are you opening it from a shortcut or from nwmain.exe in the install folder. If it is a shortcut, look at the shortcut using right click. Then look under Run: and see if it says Minimized. It should say "Normal Window".

Sounds fishy, more like your window resolution is bigger than your desktop resolution, but the fact you've played says that it shouldn't be so.

So I suppose my question is are you playing in windowed mode? If yes what is the reso (this is all in nwn.ini). What is the reso on your desktop?


EDIT:  Ie.. this is what the lines in my nwn.ini look like.
