Kids would be great, but I'd like to see the mysteriously absent female turians, salarians, batarians and krogan first.

Salarians are 90% Male so Females are confined to the planet i guess, some for Krogan as they need to keep the females for breeding.

Batarians and Turians haven't been explained though.

They better not resolve the other aliens with another convenient "explanation"...   Had no idea about the salarians, but still, would be nice to see at least the odd one here or there... Is it really that much extra work?  Would be nice if there was a female krogan camp dlc.  As for the turians, aren't the females just as militarised as the men?  In any case, we hear about females from these species all the time, it's just wierd never seeing any of them.

Yeah, I don't think children need to be added. There's a lot of deep emotional scenes going on without trying to add in unneeded child-angst. I mean, jeez, Shepard doesn't have enough to deal with by trying to save ALL of humanity as well as the galaxy? I don't think seeing some poor orphaned child is going to add anything to the already severe situation. :P
I'd rather the developers put their focus on other things.

Having kids doesn't fit into the game--> I agree with Gleym. :D

Yeah, you hear from Garrus about a Female Turian that he was with on a ship once. So there must be females.

Strangely, I never noticed that there were no children in ME1/ME2 until I read it on here haha.

Still it would be nice to see or even hear about children somewhere in ME3. There doesnt necessarily have to be any plot or story with a child/children in it, but it would still be cool to see the little buggers somewhere... >_<

If abuse to children push up the rating why the did bioshock not get a higher rating? Like 18+ or something because you practically murder little girls.

I tell you  one thing, Kids were annoying as all hell in Fable 2. Last I need is a bunch of snatchers of crumbs running after me on the wards asking for a autograph.

Not practically. You do kill them. In any case, I say this much: I agree with those who say that adding children for the sake of drama is annoying and completely boring and uncreative. I am not a fan of including children in a game just to create a 'ooh the poor children' scenario where they are endangered. It reeks of Hollywood, especially since you know that in every single situation like that, the damned kid is never going to die because "hurr children are our future and have to be protected!"

I will always appreciate people like John Carpenter for his work on Assault on Precint 13 and the ones who made Alien 3 for having the guts to kill children in their movies, not out of a sadistic vendetta against kids, and not because I'm some 'sick person who needs help' like all the soccer moms insist either, but because they aren't afraid to refuse to coddle people and pretend like nothing bad ever happens to kids. Again, it's not for the sake of drama that they do it either, or to be 'dark and edgy'. In Assault on Precinct 13, a gang member kills a little girl cold blood because she's in the way and has seen them, making her a liability. Plus he's just a complete bastard like that. In Alien 3, Newt gets facehugged off-screen and is subsequentially dead at the start of the movie. Not as brutal, but at least they didn't tip-toe around it and act like kids can't get infected and chest-bursted.

And nobody says that if you add kids to the games that they have to be in any of those kinds of situations anyway. It could be as simple as getting a duct rat to scout for you on the Citadel to turian kids playing around a fountain on the turian homeworld.

So I say this: If you're gonna add kids, then don't just do it for some needless drama and forced emotional confrontation because "ooh think of the children!" But at the same time, don't pansy out and act like they're immune to everything that goes on either. If you're gonna do it, then do it right.

The only reason Mass effect lacks kids is the same reason we don't have females. Xbox 360 (and now playstation 3) hardware has limited ram in which to store many different models of people while maintaining the same graphical quality they want in the game, in addition to all the voicework and extra modeling work needed. If just simple female versions of 2 council races (maybe 6 if you include volus, batarian, elcorr, and krogan) were culled for this reason, why do you expect they can magically add children of multiple races in 3?

I don't honestly see them doing it. I would really like for them to include children and women of all races, but I am also one that wishes they didn't develop the game for the consoles primarily and would not limit the pc version because of it.

Oh almost forgot. As for children killing, I support it in games.  It comes across as completely lame that any game including kids has them as completely impervious beings.  As role players, people should push for the inclusion of all possible actions.  Forgive me for even mentioning this game, but it's like being on an RPPVP server of World of Warcraft as an Orc and attacking elwynn only to find that little timmy can't be harmed for any reason...  Even though you happen to be playing as a bloodthirsty, alliance despising, murder machine.

There is absolutely no justification for not killing children in games. None whatsoever. It does not promote killing or harming children anymore than the game promotes harming or killing any and all adults you encounter.  If you aren't one who would kill a child in game, having the option does not and will not effect your experience one iota. While having it will increase immersion tenfold for those that may.

By peculiar coincidence Shepard is only ever on hub worlds during the 'small hours', local time, when children are asleep.

Or maybe parents walk their children somewhere else rather quickly when a trio of heavily armed commandos comes wandering through their neighborhood.

Children ARE annoying though. In Dragon Age: Origin I've killed Connor a few times entirely because I didn't like that character. Seriously, that annoying voice of his is like a rake on a chalkboard.

I wouldn't hate it if children showed up in ME3 but I'm not begging for it either.

I suppose BioWare could put children in ME3 without you being able to kill them directly, or if they are killed in anyway by someone other then you, then you shouldn't actually see the child getting killed. So for example you might be put in a situation where there could be some kind of threat in a colony, and there is no time for an evacuation of the colonists which include children. So the choices would be you can bomb the place to bits with all the colonists in there, killing everyone including the children, or take out the threat with your squad which I'll be guessing would be extremely hard and many of the colonists could die including some of the children, though as I said the actual child shouldnt be seen getting killed. An example for this would be a colonist running out of their home, noticing their child is not with them, screams out the child's name which is responded to a "Mommy!" from the house only for it to be hit by a grenade which destroys the home. The child would probably die but you'd only see the home blown up and only guess there was a child in it by dialog.

see how perfect or cooler the mass effect series is without kids? mass effect is a bachelor now, add in the kid element... the game becomes questionable in regards of it's content... ergo lame.

"man there's little stupid kids in this crap now... so lame... why not add in a minivan space shuttle", gamer "this is like girls taking over the universe trying to change it or make it prettier, when that'd be a really stupid idea because girls are stupid.", gamer 2

besides, mass effect is extremely violent... why put kids in that atmosphere?

"i'm commander shepard, and i don't want to baby sit any annoying kids while being a commander in the future... i don't want to play my dream house barbie with any annoying broads in the future. just why would some crazy stupid broads take that risk anyways, my futuristic life is all risky.", commander shepard

"i like being a single bachelor, no kids... nothing... i am not gay either... i am career oriented...you add in all the other **** and then you get a immediate pointless headache. noisey kids, nagging ****es, paying more for this, and that... ugh!!! just accept my offer of compliance, take some futuristic villa of staying the **** away from me deal.", commander shepard

"i didn't sign up for the space marines to use it as a dating service dammit, i'm on a ****ing mission, or was on a mission... this mission is long expired... it's time for me to leave earth and ****. i was looking forward to the idea of not dating anyone in the future, being single, and childless, perfect thought......like yeah chicken and zion...not dating...naked dance parties, checking out different planets.", commander shepard.

Like Bad Company and the bad Publicity it got? Not because of children - i give you that - but bad press is bad press and I think it even helped the game.

I think all the Children are in mines or weaving carpets with their tiny hands and bad eyes :D

I would prefer seeing female aliens over children.

And don't forget: it's the future! In the future parents have realized that dirty, noisy children in public are an eye- and earsore so they hide them in a dark chamber till they don't laugh about The Mask with Jim Carrey...

On an actually serious note, do you know how completely, totally different the game experience would've been for me if I'd seen the Collectors take even one small child the way they took Kelly?

You'd hear no more "the Collectors were an unmotivating enemy" from me.

but children are retarded, they grow up to be exactly like their parents... or worst...

that's to say if a hypothetical alyssa elizabeth character and bob made babies... and they're both diabolical ****s, that their offsprings are going to be exactly like them when ever they're older... meaning lizzie and bob are multiplied whatever amount of times... meaning you have more bob's and lizzie's in the universe, and that there's going to be more ****s, and even more ****s like them the moment those multiplied lizzie's and bob's multiply on their own, thus making the universe a lot less comfortable.

now i understand the krogan genophage.... "Oh ****, krogans are hellbent on destructive psycho-freaks... and they multiply and breed like crazy...they have the ability of blowing up everything in site, including their home planet..." Salarian-Turian

why does ****hole get ****s?
