That said, I feel like the Halo games at least try to have a single player story and a decent Campaign. Reach even has a few things in the Campaign that aren't in multiplayer. Beyound that, Halo has some good stories for shooter games.
The rundown:
- Characters are characatures (spelling?). They don't get much screen time, so they make up for it by being easily identifyable.
- Anyone who's played the other Halo games knows what will happen, but that can make the story more powerful if you care about what's going on. Rather simple story, but well done and well connected to the trilogy. (Reminds me of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, where it leads directly into the original game.)
- Campaign gets a few special sequences. For example: a space battle and low-gravity/low-volume foot battles. It takes work to add features, so Bungie took some time giving the Campaign a few memorable scenes.
Besides that, there's the multiplayer. But we all know that.
Even better: armor powers. If you played Halo 3, you don't have to worry about the horrible "equipment" coming back. Now both singleplayer and multiplayer can have a whole new layer of strategy. Or you can just fly around in a jetpack.
