I really want to use the toolset but everything on the suggested site is really confusing to me. does anybody know a site or even a book i could use so the toolset could make sense to me?

the following is not yet comprehensive and is more concerned with individual tasks than a big overview, but some more viddies... (in particular i recommend the toolset fundamentals one if you cant quite make sense of DA files and the toolset database)

I'd say hit youtube and try searching for the Dragon Age Toolset the tutorials. Those worked wonders for me - they're missing a bunch of stuff but at least you can get a single quest written, and a module packaged and deployed.

The toolset can indeed be overwhelming at first. Try to learn some basics and learn how to do things when you need to do it. I also recommend SilentCid's video tutorials
