how come you cant have your own pic? do you have to use one of theirs or am i missing something

After you Upload a character from the CC to this site, & it gets completed & shows up here, ya can go to Profile - Change Profile Photo to go to a page, where the created character portraits will show up as an available option on the right hand side.

How to upload a character from dao ? I already finished the game, and start another char, but i can't see any of my toons here, but i have my achievements.

I don't have the game yet so I'm unsure on the details, but I know there's a checkbox that needs to be checked for it to happen automatically. It may not be checked by default (or you may have unchecked it), and you may have to manually upload a character once before it happens automatically. There is also sometimes a delay of a few days before anything happens.

The Social Site is under heavy load often, so the average time for an uploaded character appearance/character update seems to me to be tending to average 24ish hours. Sometimes more, sometimes less depending on site traffic intensity.

When you create your character in Dragon Age, it will eventually be uploaded to the site while you're playing. Make sure you remain connected to the internet and that you're logged in from the game's main menu.

Eventually, when you return to the forum, you'll be able to select your custom character portrait that you've created.

I have seen people who regular pictures that arent characters, how do I do that??

^This. Honestly this profile picture thing doesn't bother me all that much, being able to "show off" your character is already pretty good, better than having to stick with the standard Shepard pic
