Yes, but he uses them to bribe templars. Which is extremely cool.

Exactly. Sten can question me anytime he likes. And I shall continue to verbally ****-slap him everytime. And gain cool points doing so.
Because I know the Riddle of Cookies.

If one is so ready to blame the Templars for their faults, for example, then one should also blame Sten for disrespect the differences between himself and the Warden.

Yea Sten is perhaps one of the final party members I ever developed respect for. Even Shale has an excuse over him being trapped as a golem for so many years for her to even remember her past existence. There are cultural differences and then there is oppression; the very SAME kind of oppression that the most Templars use against the Circle Magi in the game.

Well, there's a difference though.
People CHOOSE to be Templars. Qunari are raised from birth to be who and what they are, and they don't know any other way.

Very true. Well... Some people cannot choose to become Templars I imagine. Like the initiates Wynne mentioned who, against their will at times, are raised to become revered mothers or such, I imagine that there are a few others who are forced to become Templars.
Despite this, it is still very offensive to desecrate the wills of others just because one thinks differently.

You could say the same for Templars as they'd be sent to the Chantry in their youth (pre adolescence) It seems like a double standard to fault one group when you won't fault another.
Personally I have no problem calling them both douchenozzles and continuing about my day. So you were raised to think this way? Big deal. You're still on the wrong side o the battlefield.

Another reason why to sympathize but not forgive those who would attempt to walk all over the Warden.

Are all templar trainees "sent"? Do we know this?
And even if all are sent, are they all sent as young children? Alistair, if I'm not mistaken, was in Templar training for, what, something like 5-6 years maybe? That would make him, say, 14 or above when he went. And it that's a typical age, then there may be an element of choice in there.
I mean, don't we have, say, 14 yr olds who decide they want to be templars, just like we have 14 yr olds who decide they want to be a cop?
And again, there's even a difference between being sent someplace at, say, age 10, and growing up from birth among a people who have already decided that YOU are going to be a merchant, and HE is going to be a soldier, etc.

Oh, I agree it's offensive to do that. However, IMO, Sten does attempt to explain his way of life to the Warden, and while he clearly thinks he way is better - and that's pretty common, to think your way is better, no? - he doesn't put down the Warden as a person, does he? Just puts down the system. At least, that's how I see it.

Ironically, the Qunari think the same way about your way of life.
So real life like.

I know! It makes it so much more interesting and fun. Sten can't change who he is or who the Qunari and nither can Alim. They can only fight for their respective world and dreams and trust in their strength and that of their kind.
It's like a good war myth.

To me Sten backing down after i pushed his poo in contradicted everything i thought i knew about him. When I first met sten in his bird cage jail cell he was a character who did not fear death & pledged his allegiance to serve me THE MASTER!!! after receiving a BRUTAL BEATDOWN from the edge of my poison tipped daggers he pretty much begged for mercy like a little wuss. At this point I have to question everything i thought i knew about the man including his "Exaggerated" story of slaying children in a village, Probably was a bunch of kittens or warhound pups.

Are you kidding? He never begs for mercy, he puts his future in your hands. Whatever you choose he will accept (the game doesn't give you the option to kill him but if it was there, I'm sure he wouldn't have objected).
And the "little biatch" comment makes it hard to take you seriously. <_<

Personally, I think one of the best accomplishments in the game is it ending with Sten acknowledging you as his kadan — a brother--in-arms (even if your character is female). I've had that occur with one of my characters, a HNF rogue (she's my current avatar).

I'd plead him down to manslaughter, as he killed them in a fit of panic and regretted it to the point of choosing to be executed. I don't think I could accept a child murderer into the party no matter the circumstances. What I find more disquieting is chatting with Zevran when he says he enjoys being an assassin and "most" of his victims had it coming.Addai67 wrote...

I am more than certain most of his targets really DID have it coming. If you remember the story of Prince Azrin, you will know what I am talking about. He is the prime example of a target in Zevran's history as an assassin working in liege to the Crows. People like Prince Azrin are those who really DO need to die, regardless of the condition and the parameters. As he says "death happens to us all, and with me around it happens much more often" or something like that.
Despite that normally my real life mentality strongly treats his methods as a disgrace to society, I must say Zevran is quite different, for he too regrets many of the targets that died by his hand. I forgot the girl's name whose throat was slit by Zevran back in his last job with Taliesan, but my Warden REALLY needed to get his respect to learn this truth from him.
Plus the bugger has some really excellent and sexual humor
I've never had him in my party for the Urn quest (I don't really know why because I do use him regularly). Had no idea you got to put him in his place.
Actually by the time I had entered Haven, Sten did indeed question my motives for my search for the urn, but he never went through the process of physically threatening my rule as Warden Commander of the group. Perhaps it was because my approval with him was high enough. Either that or I was extremely diplomatic in my reasoning and kept my composure to the best of my extent.
