pretty sure I haven't found everything so I wondered
what is the best mage staff in origins?

I'm not an expert on Mages, since I don't use them often, but the best one that I found was the Corrupted Magister's Staff. It is part of the Return to Ostagar DLC.

In origins: Bought in the Mages Tower at the Quarter Master for 128 gold and 88 silver 0 bits

The mage staff sold by the vendor at the Circle Tower entrance area is very nice, but it really depends on what type of Mage you are running. Cold? Fire? Electric? Nature? Entropy? Healer?
As for the best "all-around" staff I haven't a clue as I prefer Cold, Nature, and Entropy spell lines.

I use wintersbreath alot as its only 30 gold and if give a decent amount of cold and reg damage

I don't really use a staff for damage boosts, it's the other effects that tend to win out on staff choices. Mainly +Spellpower, +Magic, +Mana, +Willpower and +Mana regeneration are the key factors I look for in that order. In Origins that typically means Magister Lord's staff. Awakening gets complicated. Spellfury is a great staff for most of it (looks the best too, IMO) but I ended up using Staff of the Lost found in Kal'Hirol.
