If they were to add such a toggle (and I don' think they would) then it had better apply all the time.

I'm still annoyed that DAO hid helmets during conversations.

Can they at least remove the helmet to take a mighty drink of ale at the inn? They don't let you do that in the future, you have to drink it straight through that helmet.

^This. I just want it off if Hawke is eating, drinking, kissing, etc.

I don't see this as an outlandish fanboy request either.

Ha! I remember in ME2 if you had a mask/helmet on and your LI was Lira, you would make-out through the helmet. Was funny, and a bit jolting.

Of course, this is always good for a laugh.

^Ya, that was a good one too. I always thought it funny to think that fluid could be caught in the breather part and make him pass out... Ya, I sometimes have weird thoughts like that.

I don't believe you. I think you are contrarian for the sake of it.

If not, she can always try to blind herself to death or something.

And next would be the toggle for armor, right? You want the bonus for wearing it (if there is one), but you don't want to have to look at it?

That'll be up to the Dev team, but I hope that if you choose to wear a piece of head gear, you wear a piece of head gear. If you don't want to, then you assume the risks for doing so.

Then can we at least have less ugly headwear?

I would be happy to wear helmets as long as they looked good and showed up in cut-scenes. If they must be hidden for some reason, it would be neat to show characters removing their helmets and lowering their hoods when they talk to someone.

Like I said before, this is already a very popular mod. If we're going to have the naysayers argue against a single check box, quite literally the definition of "optional," then I don't think we'll ever agree on anything.

Yes, I never understand when people rail against something that would be completely optional.

Some dude: Bioware, can we have a helm toggle?
Some other dude: NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO! (falls onto knees, shakes fist at sky)

While this toggle I support, there are several extremely harebrained ones that I can't bring myself to agree with. The answer to everything is not a toggle--they take away from time and resources spent developing other things, they undermine the creative process (I don't like voice-overs--toggle!), and are generally very frivolous.

I am generally in agreement with BioWare's reluctance to resort to a toggle for every issue that comes up, but it truly seems like it would be all but trivial in this case.

Obviously the code to display a helmet is going to be in the game already, so can't they just have a simple boolean variable (let's call it "showHelm"), and just add "IF (showHelm)" right before they'd normally call that particular function?

Meh, I'm probably vastly oversimplifying it. Still, it doesn't seem like it falls into the category of "twice the work for no reason" that most toggle requests do.

i hate most of the head gear in DA:O specialy the Mages and Rogues helmets.

most MMO this days have remove helmet option. becasue well we dont spend 1 hour or more in creating a character face just to not see it.

still as long in DA:2 we get tools so people in the comunity can do mods like this ill be hapy!

http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=202

and yes its a no helmet mod! and i love it! i wish they add it to the game.

In this case its a freaking magic tome that makes you helmet invisible! one most love cheasy lore!

Conclution.

1-add hide helmet option.

2-poeple that think it will brake inmertion, don't hide your helmets its and option not a nessesity.

3-people that do want to hide them so i dont have to see X realy ugly but powerfull item, don't and people that just want to see flowing hear of their character blow while killing stuff do actualy see it.

4-if you realy dont want to work on a easy thing like this give us the tools so we can do it ourselfs.

Yeh, I assume DA2 and ME don't share the same game engine. In ME2 I understood that is wasn't possible with many armor sets, because they were a single entire skin, not diffrent peices. If DA2 stays with seperate armor peices, I can't see why they would not implement this feature that is not a surprise that sneaked upon them at the last second, it has been a topic since DAO released, and not a minor topic.

Again, I hope this isn't even an issue, I'd rather have better looking helms than have to hide them, but even then doing this feature for those that spend hours on their characters face, as opposed to my click random face for 10 seconds, I think they should do it for those folks that want to see their faces as much as possible.

I agree that toggling pieces of armor on and off yet retaining the abilities is stupid, but I thing redesigning some of the head gear is necessary. those cowls in DA:O were embarrasing and plain stupid looking. I would rather go without headgear honestly but I shouldnt have to just because my only options are uglier than an uncleaned a**hole.

Don't be silly.. head gear is "the" part to not show in any game cause you want to see the facial expressions of your character. If anything.. it would be nice if the character took off the helm during conversations, some may even consider it polite showing your face when in conversation with them.
Obviously it's the devs choise but despite for some looking like the smallest of things it gives alot more to those who cares about it than may believe.

Random thoughts
1- Non-combat: Helm off (other gear you decide to not show)
2- Combat: Show everything
3- Town/combat state: option 1 or 2
4- simple toggle show/don't show

A trivial thing to care about for bioware surely. But that helmet...=]

I hear that if you hit Alt+F4 it will hide not only your Hawkette's headware, but her clothes as well.

It's a little more difficult on consoles, but if you locate your console's air vent and pour a gallon of water into it, you should get the same effect.

I'll try when I have the game, and open a thread with the results :innocent:
