Hey guys i been browsing through the IGN vault lately i now only notice there's actually ppl making campaign , some special classes and characters for NWN 2

Anways....i want to download tis pack of characters written NWN Game : SOZ , does that mean this characters only work for SOZ ver?

And do SOZ require NWN 2 MOTB ? or just the original NWN 2 ?

If it needs both expansions, it should say "MotB+SoZ", or "All", or something like that. The vanilla NWN2 is always needed, obviously.

You do not need MotB to install SoZ. However, I believe that if you install SoZ and *then* get MotB, you must re-install NWN2 before installing MotB, and only then re-install SoZ on top (i.e. you have to go NWN2 -> MotB -> SoZ; you can skip MotB, but you can't go NWN2 -> SoZ -> MotB, you have to start over). Or at least, that's what I was told.

Some things on the vault do not specify, and may need MotB as well, but generally, what Arkalezth said is true (or at least, should be, but some people do not realise they are using MotB stuff or forget to put both rather than just SoZ).

Your question: Yes, it must have SoZ. As Arkalezth said, you always have to have the original NWN2 as well.

If it does not say it requires MotB, then you should be okay without it. This may not always be true, but most likely if it's not listed you don't have to have it.

I recommend getting the whole series anyway. That way there's never an issue of whether or not can you run it, and no matter what, you'll have the necessary Developer Made components to play whatever anyone else makes. Trust me, it's worth it.

uh.....well....i sort of have this nwn 2 SOZ : Stand Alone version , uh im not sure is this consider as stand alone ver , the dvd inside includes NWN 2 and SOZ only.....so when i install it automatically installs NWN 2 n SOZ but i too still bought another NWN 2 zzz and MOTB , so its like i have 2 NWN 2 and 1 its with SOZ and 1 its with MOTB only zzz , is there any way to like merge this 2 files 2gether?

1 more thing ok lets say this " class " pack from vault , it written game NWN 2 SOZ , so since u guys said its like only SOZ its require , cant this classes all work in MOTB n the original NWN 2 ?

But as i said before it automatically installs SOZ after i finished with NWN 2 zz so i cant stop at NWN 2 and install MOTB to the file then let it continue SOZ , well Fred said must follow order NWN 2 > MOTB > SOZ

Well, first of all, less zzzs and a bit of punctuation could help. But we already said that in another thread, and you're still doing it, so I don't think that will change soon.

If I understood correctly (I'm not sure, it's hard), you have a copy of both NWN2 and MotB, and another one that it's NWN2+SoZ. I guess you can install it in that order (NWN2, then MotB, then SoZ). It sounds kinda weird having to reinstall NWN2 to be able to install SoZ.

class packs are usually compatible with the official campaigns, at least, but they aren't with some modules. If you tell us the name of this class pack, it'd be easier to confirm it. Kaedrin's pack is definitely compatible with the OC, MotB and SoZ, but I haven't used others.

LoL(laugh out loud)sorry about the "zzz"

Its actually that i bought the original NWN 2 , then the MOTB then i wanted to add in the SOZ , but when i bought the SOZ disc inside its included NWN 2 and SOZ , so when i want to install the SOZ , i use that disc it 1st installs NWN 2 and then it automatically installs SOZ , hmm i try to find a way to maybe copy and paste the files before installing SOZ or i not very sure that can i skip the NWN 2 instal and just install the SOZ or another way its after installing the NWN 2 i hope it can be pause , then inserting MOTB and install to the folder then continue with the SOZ , sounds like a good plan lol

Uh the class pack its called " Kaedrin's PrC Pack v1.40.4 " Im downloading this for a character pack called " Claymore " lol

O so this Kaedrin's pack can even work for OC , can i just DL it and use the classes for OC ? Even i dont have SOZ install? Or must i have SOZ but this pack its compatible for all versions? (there writte Game : SOZ though)

I know what lol means. It's the long sentences with zzzs and little punctuation what bothers me.

Taken from Kaedrin's pack's page:

"This *requires* MotB and SoZ."

So you need both expansions installed.

It will work with the OC, MotB and SoZ. However, if you have other mods, they can interfere with it. It doesn't work with MoW and some modules.

Packs like Kaedrin's can be used *in* any game... however, you often have to have a certain game *installed* to run them at all. All class packs require SoZ (because afaik you still can't run more than 1 custom class without SoZ) but many also require MotB. Regardless of what they require, though, you can play the classes from them in any game (other than ones with their own class modifications), including the OCs (Original Campaigns) from NWN2, MotB and SoZ.

It's precisely that, the custom content is using those "different systems" which are not in the OC, without which we'd have much less we can actually do.

If you don't have SOZ and MOTB, not all the custom classes can be leveled up, resources used in the custom content aren't there ( like models, textures, icons, scripts ). Basically without everything quite a few things aren't available or just plain wonky, not even looking at the fact you can't level up past 20.

The other issue is it's just not worth supporting 3 versions of the game for the modding community when only a small minority have not purchased everything.

Especially since almost many of the features done with SOZ thru 1.23 were specifically done to support us modding the game after they stop releasing expansions. Those expansions provide a lot more value than just the story that comes with them ( quite a few folks have those expansions and never once played the campaigns ) and you are really limiting your experience if you don't have everything.
