class: Warrior [2 handed]
Face: Customized
Alignment: Neutral [my first playthrough is the one that always resembles what I'd do in real life situations, so I don't pick an alignment, I just choose as I go]

I am also very tempted by the Rogue class, since its really looks like they are (much more) different from Warriors this time.

I think it's interesting that some people have in-depth characters while others have pretty basic ones, for me, I have to play the game at least once, not role-playing it TOO heavily. And then one my second or third play-through, I'll have a proper deep, developed character created.
Though I usually have at least some background planned before I play, this is how it usually ends up for me. My canons are usually close to my first character, but there's almost always tweaks and changes over a few plays before I get to my "final" version.

At the same time, mages seem to have an important role to play...

Thing with DAO and DA2, your background is kinda preset (though in DAO, you can choose your background, there is still a set number of scenarios you can come from). Sure, you can shape some of the small actions and personalities of your character at that time and how they felt about things, but the actual background story itself is pretty much set in stone..

Unless I can play as a 2H warrior male that comes across as tough as Guts from Berserk.

Thanks for the moral support, but that was just my sense of humor. I poke fun at myself alot.mopotter wrote...

I'm one of those sad individuals who likes to play the PC of most any RPG as an extension of myself. And, last time I checked, hope nothing bad happened since, I have dude parts, so male it is!
As for class, probably warrior. Love whacking things with swords.
I don't find you sad. Find you normal (if there is such a thing).I'm female and I always play a her first. I may play a guy later, just to see what the romance is like, but one of the great things about bioware games is my husband and I can both have a character we can relate to.
As far as my character's personality and identity are concerned, I can confirm that i will play a sarcastic goody two shoes, but I don't want to plan out any other details when i know so little about how the charater will play. My character concept usually develops over the course of the game, as i see the protagonist evolve rather than right at the start. Then i go back and replay t hat charater idea in more detail.

Trying to spice things up a bit, since I absolutely always seem to start as a good guy on these ganes, and if the option is available i go for the warrior/soldier class first.

My guy will be focused on freeing Mages from the control of the Chantry and if possible freeing Templars from the Chantry too because they are made to be drug addicts so they are easier to control by the chantry and that's almost as bad as the mage's situation.

I'm awre. DA2's not the first game to be more established like that - I've played plenty of games with an at least semi-preset backstory. "Background" in the context I mean can range anywhere between complete backstory to only filling in little gaps/short stories that fit within the preset background. Really, just anything that happened before the game started, big or small.

I intend to make a custom face but depending on the character creator's options I might use the default face.
Sarcastic/rude but good at heart.
