Also make sure to strip Jory and Daveth before approaching the ruins of the Warden ruins that way you can sell their stuff before they die.

I kill everything that moves and check the bodies for loose change. But in the game itself that works too.

And get a giggle worthy scene with Flemeth and the Joining after

There is no need. You get their stuff after the Joining.

All men must strip before the Joining. It's tradition.
It's also really funny.

No; seeing the ones that are about to die in their short clothes is not so funny; hurts the eyes really.
Wondering where Ser Jory sheathed that hidden greatsword hurts even more....

Just make sure you go to the quartermaster before you do your Joining (and turn in the dog quest flower, for that matter). Once you've been through the Joining, the NPCs will have buggered off.
And if your Rogue has Stealing, he also has a belt available on both occasions. Not as good as most of the DLC, but for the basic game, they are worth a few silver.

Simply looting everything you kill in your origin should give you enough to buy your first back pack.
Then, after you finish the Kokari Wilds, go back and sell everything you found there that you don't need. Buy another backpack.
You do not need to strip Ser Jory or Daveth if your version is up to date (1.04). Their gear will auto-appear in your pack.
But you DO need to strip your "companions" before lighting the beacon in the tower of ishal.
Good luck Davir. I can tell you are a first timer. This game is DEEP. There is a learning curve. I've been at it a year, I consider myself a master, and I still run into stuff I did not know.

It must be rather...roomy there. XD
Though frankly I always thought it was hilarious.
Plus don't you get another set of their clothing afterward if you strip them?

I think you only gain a single set of gear per NPC, but I am uncertain.
And personally, I would suggest Jory try adding fiber to his diet instead....
