It was suggested that I post this inquiry here. Apparently someone else experienced this but a search didn't turn up anything. 

I have noticed during every gun battle [ and often more than once per battle ] I am hearing a woman's voice (similar to that of EDI) saying "Dead" or "Head. "

I first noticed this after using the Kestrel helmet for the first time and assumed it was part of a targeting system that I did not understand, but I am now hearing it with no helmet is in use.

It seems to occur when I receive hits from the enemy and not when I have hit one of them.

My guess is that a glitch in the code is retrieving the wrong audio file and what should be a grunt or groan from Shepard  is this at times. 

It's an minor annoyance but I would like for it to go away, if that is a possibility.

hmmm creepy and weird. can you record some video of you playing so we can see/hear it?

Recording game play is doable but rather involved -- feed console video to DVD recorder, rip and convert, upload to hosting site. Quite a bit of trouble....LoL

I noticed Miranda shout out the occasional "YEAA!" during combat, especially after glorious moments such as Shepard performing kills, headshot or something awesome.

I am hearing this even when my squad mates are male. Pretty strange little audio glitch, apparently.

Or you can take a video camera and record the TV. The quality doesn't matter

This is interesting...when I play as a femshep, I don't hear it.

Another interesting thing.I just watched a Bioware video on youtube that demonstrates the various classes. Kind of hard to hear with the lead gameplay designer narrating, but I heard the "Dead" thing several times during that video.



I'm now inclined to think it's not a glitch, but has some meaning.

Did you ever figure this out? I play on the PC and I'm hearing it too, I never noticed it before. I'm playing male char, and same as you, I hear the voice even when the entire squad is male. Unless it's EDI, and she letting you know when targets die?

No... never got an explanation. I usually play as a femShep where it isn't an issue.
