Exactly how can SP module builders make use of the ADL?

I don't know the exact specifics of it, but I did, at one point in time, speak with Grinning Fool in IRC and asked him specifically about using the autodownloader for SP modules. He said that it was indeed possible. He mentioned that SP module builders would have to change some of the things they did to package their modules more like MP/PW modules, yet it was certainly doable in his view. And of course, then someone else was vying for his time and I didn't really get to grill him on it.
In principle, though, it seems pretty obvious that the methods used for PWs should be just as applicable for an SP module as long as the same rules are used for packaging a module. Ultimately when it comes to downloading, what's the real difference between an SP module and a PW Module? From a file standpoint, they are functionally the same.
Again, this is one of those things that would be best discussed in detail in the IRC and then, with enough "how to" information, posted in the forums as a, "Primer on Using the Autodownloader for SP Modules," or something.

There are definately better ways of doing things that what we do now. A while back I was pushing for some sort of auto-installer of custom content (see my current sig) after playing BG and realising that in some ways, the system most often used to install BG content (i.e. WeiDU) is better than anything we do for NWN(2), even after all this time and improvement. Unfortunately I don't really have the skills or time to make anything better than my demo at the moment but it's certainly doable.
Using the Autodownloader seems like an excellent idea. I was thinking about releasing my module (which uses a decent bit of custom content) a while back (as in, I was thinking about how I'd do it, not about doing it, since I've only just started it) and it seems to me like a balancing act between ease of installation and preventing people from having to re-download stuff they already have, only with different names. The quite honsetly have to be systems which can make life much easier for everybody, and they really could revolutionise how we do things.

I use pain's ADL system, and I am working on an SP mod... will be taking a look at Fred's Auto installer in the future. I have to find a way to use this and the adl system because as an SP mod, i don't want to lose potential down loaders as a result of them looking at needing to download some 5gigs, where 80% of that content is haks that are already out there on the vault. I want the most common standard I can get to make it easier for the end user to get the content needed to enable them play my mod. This means using the ADL system.

Alas my installer is basically just a proof-of-concept atm, but the point is that whether with some system like that or with some kind of autodownloader (or both), there's got to be a better way to do things.

Tools and how we do things are one issue, the separate issue this is focusing on is what is downloaded and how it's divided up, with it organized so module makers can choose what to use and not to use, and so as the content grows, for it to not require redoing older content. An installer akin to how the autodownloader works for Single player is needed, however since we already have the urls, lzma files and sha1 checksums built into the toolset, the single player system can easily build on what has already been done for multiplayer.
Which would result in all the work massaging and fixing content for MP games being usable for SP and vice versa. The more people looking at and working on the finished content the better.
