Pathetic heroes and villains

For every novel written, movie filmed, and game created comes your main characters.  And among your cast of characters are your protagonist and your antagonist.  And if successful your villains and heroes will each get their own place to be remembered in popular culture.

For every Jack Torrence and Frodo Baggins out there you have your heroes and villains that just didn't quite make the cut.  In one way or another their role in whatever form of media they were in was a disaster or a utter joke.

So this is th purpose of this thread I want to hear your opinion on what protagonist or antagonist turned out to be a pathetic joke.

Here is a few of mine:
Anikan Skywalker- For whatever reason is role in the last several starwars movies made him appear to be a spoiled brat.  The complete opposite of what a traditional hero should be.

Nute Gunray- Again from starwars, this alien is the leader of the Trade Federation.  And if you are going to feature him in all the prequels and set him up as a villain you might as well make his role of some importance.

Lord Beckett- I mean for all this guy's supposed cunning he dies with in 30 secs at the end of the last Pirates Movie.  Again his role seemed rather pointless.

Lord Lucien- From Fable 2, apparently the most evil guy out there.  You spend the whole game trying to avenge your sister's death and you expect a climatic ending.  But the man dies with a simple gun shot wound, and depending on what you do you might not even get to kill him.

The Phantom of the Opera- Everybody watch out, he might sing at you!

tobey maguire as spiderman - this guys suppose to be a hero but all he does is when with the whole marry jane left me blah blah blah thats no hero thats a p*ssy.

He almost died that one time! But his heart slowed to only one beat per month! His hair grew at a normal rate, however.

I am going to say the Atom, sure the writers can find some weird and obscure problems where his powers may be of use but I mean cmon how useful could the power to get really really small actually be?

I actually liked the IDEA of him, though it wasn't very well written. He wasn't evil because he was powerful, he was evil because he invited little kids into his castle and then shot them in the face. He was evil because he enslaved masses of people to build his own tomb. He tried to destroy the world of Albion. It just wasn't done all that well.

To be frank, the Collectors were kind of weak. Yeah, they were trying to destroy humanity, but there was nothing particularly menacing about them. The whole "liquifying humans to turn them into a Reaper" felt really contrived.

whoever the villain in Fallout 3 was...the random Covenant guy or whatever...pretty weak. He makes like a 30 second appearance, and then died within about 2 seconds. His whole thing was that HE wanted to turn on the water purifier...but after you kill him, YOU turn it on instead?

Christian Bale is a pretty terrible Batman. Every time I see his face, I want to punch it. And when he does the "bat rasp"...ugh, makes me shudder. For that matter, he was a terrible John Connor as well...what a douche.

Guybrush doesnt count as he is supposed to be that way, and that is why we love him.

I wish there were more characters like him in video games, but it seems like every developer just tries to make their protagonists as 'badass' as possible. 'Badass' characters are so incredibly boring and predictable.

Most villains because they can't think outside of the box, or they have absolutely buckets of intelligence until the hero is within slapping distance, at which point they start derping and being idiots. Instead of some elaborate plan (Goldfinger, anyone?), just put a bullet in their head. Sorted.

Snow from Final Fantasy 13 was not only the worst hero I've ever seen but also the worst game character period. He spent an entire 40+ hour game talking about being a hero. Every other sentence had the word hero in it.

The bad guy from Die Hard 4. The only good thing about him was how he got killed.

About that series, not the hero as himself, but what they did to his life in the last two movies. From saving his wife twice to a ruined personal life and burned out.


Darth Nihilus(sp?) from Kotor2. Built up as an ultimate threat, taken down too easily, even with the plot reasons given.

Darth Traya from the same game. Whining about the Force forcing fate and trying to destroy it. A Sith who works to unbalance the Force complaining that the Force does something in return. Pity, I liked the character up until learning her goals.


Does Udina count as a villain?

Pathetic Villains:
- Prince John (Robin Hood)
- Comodus (Gladiator)
- King Xerxes (300) WTH, he was the best ruler in Earth at his Time, and the film shows him as a devil!

- The Riddler
- Loghain

yes, I found an ancient Oxford pocket Dictionary ... it seems it is something like Sorrow-Raiser or Emotional ... I even considered this word as unworthy (lack of merit of this Titles).

or a miserable Person that we should grieve or laugh at him/her?
