it is certainly the plan to do the whole of BG2, but it will only work as a "rolling team". very few people are able to commit to such a massive task indefinitely - it requires new people joining the team all the time to "keep the numbers up". please get in touch if interested.

The mod will be up later today. Cannot give you an exact time, because I'm not sure how long it will take to upload. We'll upload to dragon age nexus first and let you know in this thread once its up.

mikemike// Don't take this offensively. I hope (sincerely) this mod programming is not hindering your health and your personal life.

So, when the next stage is done, (and the next after that!!), will I be OK just having the Baldur's Gate 2 download from GOG? I just wondered how the Redux would access the files required? I can understand it accessing a disc for files, but wanted to be clear this would be OK before I bought it from GOG.

Thanks

BG2 installs files to your hard drive. it is those files we intend to access. weve done proof-of-tech and are happy we can do it with a "normal" installation.

we sincerely hope gog.com doesnt mess them around a lot, but i dont see why they would really need to. we will have to wait and see what gog.com put out for bg2.

Hey Mike,

What are the hardware requirements going to be compared to Origins? My computer is at the low-end of the scale so I'm not sure I could handle much higher.

The thing is running on the DA engine, so if your computer will run origins, it'll run this fine =)

As for BGII, the highest settings are reserved for those lucky enough to have more than a 400MHz (single core) processor =P

Hi Mike, can you already give us an update about the upload progress? Btw. nice work you guys showed us so far. I always hoped for a BG Remake with up-to-date look and maybe some tweaks here and there and this is the the closest thing for me until know. So thumbs up and keep on going!

gamer's nexus announced that it has been released but the files are hidden so I guess it's still uploading

I still have Witch Hunt to play... but it may just have to take a back seat.

Do we have to install BG2 to hard drive then in order to play the future modules? My BG2 is 10 years old and I doubt the setup program will work under Windows 7...

Anyway, the trailer is awesome!

Future mods will make use of an installer that extracts text and audio from a full Baldur's Gate install, thus preventing the need to distribute this copyrighted content and directly encouraging the purchase of the original work.

And regarding Windows 7... BG2 works just fine for me. I could even play BG1 without a problem lately.

You guys are AWESOME! Now I hope and cross my fingers you can pull the rest of the game off as well, but even this little tasty morsel is so much worth my time. BG2 is the epitome of CRPG's! :o)

Absolutely stunning. Far above any DA mod I had ever tried. The attention to detail is exquisite. Items give the same bonuses as their BG counterparts, everything, from the scenarios to the NPCs looks as it was in BG, cinematics are well done and the effort of recreating the old classes and specializations amazes me. I've even seen helmets restricted to monks! (I take it you plan to support all classes?).

The only negative notes I can think of are some crashing and the weirdness of voiceless dialogs, but I guess that can't be helped.

As a side note, I shed a little tear when I opened the mod and saw the BG2 intro. Glorious.

10/10. You can be proud of what you've done, I hope you guys manage to complete the full game.

mikemike// Yeah. I have to agree with IAmTheExplorer. When you start the game and Imolden starts dialogue with you, there's no voice. There seems to be some problem with voice dialogues.

not a problem with the voices... baldurs gate didnt have them (only opening lines were voiced, typically). we didnt make new ones.
