mikmike// Oh you are saying that you can only hear voices on their opening lines?

BG2 only has vo for selected lines, and we only used what was available from BG2 (mostly). Unless you are saying there is NO vo at all? That would be a bug in sound, which I will have to fix!

mikemike// I haven't played Baldur's Gate 2 [even though I have the game] so I have no idea about voice dialogues. lol
So apologies if I'm asking 'dumb' questions

Just finished it. The attention to detail is astounding... everything is there. I didn't think it was possible, but you guys really nailed it on the head. This isn't just a BG2 dungeon slapped in DAO, it's a true remake of BG2's first chapter. Everything looks and feels genuine, but in 3D.
I didn't experience any crashes and the module played out smoothly. My only pet peeves regard the implementation of the classes, though that can be expected from trying to recreate AD&D in DAO's shallow game mechanics. I think the mana system currently makes mages too powerful, but I guess that can't really be helped. Still, I think you did a great job with the classes considering what you were working with.
Congratulations, you deserve it!

Cuviernoius// No. there ARE voices. It's just that voice dialogues don't continue so I had to ask. But sorry for my ignorance.

Congratulations on the release. There's been a lot of work that has gone into creating this, and I'm glad to see it done. I really hope this will inspire players to give DAO mods the attention they deserve.

That was fun, I really should go out and buy the games now. No crashing for me but I haven't seen everything this mod has to offer just yet. I'll be sure to endorse on Nexus after a few hours. Good work.

This is amazing! The thing I find weird was that the Ranger have two branches of Dual Weapon: The Dual Weapon branch and the Two Weapon style branch. I also think that the the Two-Handed Style branch could be expanded a bit a more. But anyways I love this and I already endorse this on Nexus! Thanks for the hard work!

ranger doesnt have all three of the two-hander/dual wield branches by design. if you want to be a specialist in weapons, choose a fighter. we had to give players a reason to pick fighter, otherwise itd be a rubbish class.
thanks for the comments guys!

Wonderful mod. Thanks for all the great work; it's appreciated! One question: are there plans to incorporate a 6 member party for future modules? I was a little disappointed I couldn't let Yoshimo tag along with me. Otherwise, everything was superb. Thanks again!

Yeah I just finished it. Blew my expectations away. You should all be way proud etc. Very keen for any future mods, may even be able to help (once I finish my own
).

Just two quick thoughts - agree with Citation440 and also is there any thought of VO for all lines (Obviously what you have done is ridiculously brilliant as you wanted to keep to the original voices - how good is minsc VO!!! - you would loose this authenticity but if you were doing the entire game it might be an enhancement rather than chars not speaking lines. Please, this is in no way at all a criticism (who could criticise - its freaking brilliant). Just a thought that is all.)

Just finished a run through the mod. Really well done, particularly impressed with the character designs (Minsc and Jaheira esp.). Only issue I had was that the injury kits didn't work.

great mod, im really impressed, i was too young playing baldurs gate 2 to rember most of it now, all i remembered was that it was brilliant and so is this
the only qualms id have is the voice overs; that each line isn't voiced, but that's not you're fault : )
also i seem to be really over powered, to the extent that it doesn't matter what i choose, its 1 hit kills mostly and ive got it set on hard : / i think it's an issue with mods i alredy have for DA:O like advanced tactics or something.
i cant wait for the rest of the modules, personally i hope bioware picks you up and starts paying you
i might go dig out my old copy

Wow, a lot of support for full VO. We were going to persue it, but some people didn't like it, and so we want to give you the choice in the installer. If we can get the people and the time to get it done well, I'm sure it's something we'd try =)
Oh, and I'm sure we wouldn't complain if Bioware asked to pay us *hint hint*

I think issues with VO stem from players being used to its abundance in recent games, including Dragon Age, and the stark contrast can be rather jarring, especially so using the DA:O engine.
BG2 has a lot of dialogue though, and all existing lines would have to be re-voiced. You could opt for all or nothing, or limit the work to NPC dialogue.

Wonderful mod. The love for detail combined with the integration of the original voices and videos made it feel familiar right from the start. (A few years ago I tried a remake of Ultima V, but I didn't really like it.)
A pity it's hardly possible to implement the D&D ruleset. Otherwise I would have liked to recreate my Kensai/Mage.
Anyway, I'm looking foward to future modules, especially Suldanessellar.
@Bioware
I guess many of us are still hoping for BG III. Think about it!

This looks really good so far, but something seems odd. I'm only a little bit in but my main character (a Paladin) can't regenerate any stamina, even when resting at camp. Also I have 22 hits compared to 130 for Jaheira, is that correct as I go down to one hit quite a lot?

ravenfeeder - did you read "important.txt"? Its also under the Known Issues section of the DA Nexus page as a bug with a workaround to get it right.
im afraid its a bug in character generation. if you want to play bard or paladin you must NOT select "no subclass" at any point. start a new game and go directly to paladin (do not click ANY other class and not pick no subclass). That will create a paladin with the correct stats. Sorry for the bug, it was only spotted 2 hours before release because we hadnt been "browsing" the classes. oops!

Hmm. I didn't pick no-subclass at any point, I thought that was enough as I had 74 points. Obviously not. I'll try again.
[Edit] Yep that did it. My bad. I see now the 74 points didn't refer to the amount once I had applied the extra 10.
Feels a bit strange not to use the cheat to get my items imported from BG.

Played it through now, and once again: Wauw! You guys have done an amazing job.
*spoiler alert*
The atmosphere when entering the room with the test-subjects in the tubes is down-right creepy, much more so than in the orginal BG2, because of the first-person view.. The different monsters are very well done, I really like the goblins and the models you used as dryads.
Even though my last playthrough of BG2 must be two or three years in the past, everything is recognizable, and the intro made me shed a tear of nostalgia.
What is really something to cause concern for Bioware and other developers, IMO, is that this -introductionary- dungeon, at the very opening of BG2, has more depth (no pun intended
), more content, more story and far more interesting encounters than any of the repetitive hack'n slash dungeons of DA:O... and it is NOT because it is wanting in the hack'n slash department.
My only -minor- grieve is the dialogues. It took me a while to figure out why they felt stilted and unnatural. It is because the DA:O engine cannot present the full text in one go, so I had to sit and press esc -continue, when I had read each little part of what was said. I don't know if there's a way around that, but probably not. Anyway, it's a minor issue.
Don't start adding voices, unless you by a miracle can get the original actors to do it, please. I cannot stand having to listen to toe-cringing amateur acting.
All in all, TEN thumbs up, and ten toes as well. Great job!
