Jon Shannow, as his world crumbled around him he used the last of the stones of power to transport himself to another world. He arrived in Kirkwall and was shocked and astounded by what he saw. Kirkwall's huge towers were grand and lavish compared to his crumbling world. However he was shocked by the harsh oppression by the Templars. He killed two templars he found beating a citizen. Shocked by his pistols the Chantry declared Jon a malificar and hunted into the hills were Hawke found him.

Quotes include:

"They are pistols and i refuse to refer to them as BOOM-STICKS"

"I have given you one chance and that is the last one you will get"

"And though i walk through the shadow of the valley of death i shall feel no fear"

"You may outnumber me but you can be assured that if it comes to a fight you will die"

"Arrows hurt"

I was going to put a rather simple, less descriptive response, but when I saw the creative juices some people were spilling, I thought I should put equal effort so here goes:

My character would be Felix Wulff (distant relative to Arl Wulff). Native to the Free marshes and formerly from an aristocratic linege. Race is Human, Male and class would be Rogue.

Appearance: Lean, slim, athletic figure, average height. Short black, nicely trimmed hair that is somewhat spiked at the front. Blue eyes and small stubble around his chin. Basically, this but with black hair and less facial hair.

Backstory: The Wulff family intially consisted of Atticus Wulff (father), Helena Wulff (Mother), Felix and his younger brother Eden. His father, Atticus* Wulff was once a prominent member of aristocracy in Free Marshes, however not in Kirkwall. However, Atticus had long since been involve in a rather bitter and violent rivalry with another household of similar power, The Riverland family. The two families had been in conflict many a time violence, however, Atticus took it one step further. He attempted to assassinate the head of the Riverland household.

The attempt failed and Atticus was discovered. The Wulff family (in the free marches) was liquidated of all its status and Atticus was tried to death. Helena, distort with her husband's death, later committed suicide, in front of young Felix and Eden.

It was then, that Felix and Eden were left to live on the streets in order to survive. Only 5 and 11 years old respectively, they did all they could to adapt, Felix took to a lifestyle akin to a con-artist, perfecting his coercion and persuasion. He also showed a talent for elegant sword fighting, defeating many in spars with a mere dagger, he also began to perform street shows to raise money.

The siblings continued like this for many years. Eden always protected by his elder brother. However, after 10 years of maintaining a street lifestyle, everything changed. Eden, now a teenage, was usual left alone while Felix would go out on a con or to do a performance. On one of these days, Eden was picked up by a Templar who had gone rogue. Initially Eden was used as hostage, with the Templar threatening to kill the young boy if the chantry tried to come after him.

However, the ploy failed, the chantry not caring much for the death of an innocent. Eden then disappeared with the Templar, not seen of again.

This crippled Felix, who felt that the whole scenario was all his fault. He quit the con-art and performances and took to searching for his brother. It was during his searching that he meets Hawke, he reveals Hawke that he believes his brother's whereabouts maybe somewhere in Kirkwall and joins Hawke's efforts in order to hopefully find his sibling.

Personality: Felix is a very self-kept person, he generally has two sides to him, depending on how well you know him. He is also a natural acting and its hard to tell when he's putting on a facade. If you aren't close to Felix, he will be quick and not out-spoken, he is a bystander and observes and watching what you do, occasionally making a brief comment. However the true Felix, is a very vibrant person, he can be very coy and witty and has a very humorous side. He is also very loyal if you become close to him.

Quotes:

"We a brethren, blood or no, we stick together"
"Sorry to have to lie to you like that, but I'm a con-artist, its what we do"
"Oooh, come on, we do have a mission you know? We can't spend time dallying"
"You should be careful, you never know when a dagger can come out of the darkness"

*A homage to To Kill A MockingBird

I'd be the Danny Devito/Joe Pesci-voiced Dwarf who's mostly only there for annoyance and comic relief, always hiding behind something whenever Hawke and co enter battle. My only redeeming quality would be having connections with certain high-ranking criminals, although I owe each of them a lot of money.

No, Alistair is not nearly as angry as I would be.  I'd probably react the same way to flirtation as he would though.

Oh, what a fun idea for a thread!

I'd be Anarya: rogue anthropologist! Human rogue from a noble family. Bookish, voracious reader, insatiably curious. Honed her rogueish skills stealing cookies and things from the kitchen unseen as a child and sneaking out of the castle (combat training came from a tutor with a "colorful' past). Spent several years among the Chasind studying their culture. Is now occupied with a study of the Qunari people and spends her time hunting down Vashoth (for interviews---it's a tough job) and collecting all existing knowledge of the Qunari from libraries around Thedas. Is heading north towards Qunari lands and plans a stop in Kirkwall before continuing on to Rivain.

She gets sidetracked in Kirkwall when she meets Hawke. She helps him/her out with her rogue skills and in an advisory capacity about the Qunari (s)he faces. As to what Anarya gets out of the deal? Well, I'm hoping Hawke has a Qunari companion she can study, but if not, I chalk it up to that insatiable curiosity of hers. Hawke is an interesting dude(ette).

I have a really difficult time imagining myself as a useful companion to a legendary fantasy hero. I'd have to be a mage, because I'm neither big and strong nor especially fast and coordinated. If I had grown up in a mage Circle, I'd probably be a libertarian in theory but too cautious to actually do anything about it. After a lifetime in the tower, I'm not sure what the circumstances would be that would have me join Hawke, but I'd be pretty fearful of the outside world. My spells would probably be predominantly defensive and healing-oriented. I'd be an absent-minded, easily distracted font of arcane and historical information, and provide good (if typically cautious) advice to Hawke. And I'd totally want to do him, but he'd have to make the first move.

I'd be a guard captain who tries to make everybody respect the law but has to make night raids to kick criminals in the ass when nobody is looking, kinda Garrus from ME1-like. After Hawke knows me better I'll tell him my secret passion is to collect spicy literature and my loyalty mission would be "Hawke, I'm in love with a prostitute can we free her from the harem of that noble?" After freeing her, she tells me she never really loved me, then I get drunk, abandon my captain job, become a proscrit in Kirkwall and follow Hawke slaying monsters and undoing wrongs under my personal view of justice.I'm starting to have gambling and drinking problems but in the epilogue is been said I end up marrying the chubby bartender from kirkwall "who secretly loved him during years and along they moved to Orlais and opened a Tavern called "the hornless qunari""

Contrary to my avatar I would be a Human Apostate and not a Dwarf Noble. I would also betray Hawke at any given opportunity should it put me in a very good position. If that position never comes up though I'd stick with them as long as it keeps me alive.

I'd also be casually sarcastic yet quite cold at a given notice.

Wow some of you guys have some great ideas. And the humorous ones aren't bad either...in that they make me laugh ever so slightly. But the thought out ones, ladies and gents...I never thought anyone would be weird enough to think this through but what I'm seeing is very, very cool. I didn't even think of the quote thing, see what happens when you present a good idea to an intelligent group of people, great results and improvement on the original proposal.

For my Dalish I mentioned

Quotes-

"If a shem falls in the forest does anyone really care?"

(Killing humans, Qunari or Dwarves)"Can't we all get along? No? Good!"

"You know I've never seen anyone dance with wolves...but I once seen a man waltz with two bears."

"What do you need Lethallin?"(for friends)

"What do you command vhenan'ara?" (For his woman)

"Can't we do something challenging...or fun? Fine...I'm going to go set Varric's boots on fire again..."

"Now YOU submit!"(for finishers)

Summary: A stoic, grizzled Templar who has become disillusioned with the Order and the Chantry.

Name: Malthred

Appearance: Muscular with an imposing figure. Numerous scars cover his body, and despite being in his late forties, has long gray hair/beard. His most striking feature however is his right eye - during a battle a stray bolt of Arcane magic pierced his right eye, causing both his iris and pupil to go completely white (not to mention blind).

Personality: A man of few words, Malthred is stoic, serious in nature, and completely devoted to protecting the innocent. However, Malthred is an absolute horror on the battlefield - he gives no second chances, brutally dismembering foes in a manner that would offend even the most savage of Quanari. His training as a Templar has naturally made him weary of mages; but long years spent in Kinloch Hold has taught Malthred that, despite their unpredictable nature, mages are still human, just like his Templar brethren.

Background: A former Templar, Malthred became disillusioned with the Order/Chantry after witnessing his troops slaughter an entire village of innocent civilians. Their crime? They were guilty of sheltering a 13 year old apostate. After the massacre, Malthred quietly slipped into the shadows, becoming a rogue Templar in the process.

Current Activities: Malthred, after illegally leaving the Order, has become a vigilante. He travels across Fereldan, dealing righteous fury to the unjust. It is only natural his path of divine justice would lead him into the corrupt and crime-ridden city of Kirkwall...

I'd be a very flirtatious Rivaini Gypsy-Bohemian-Hippy type of Apostate Mage/Spirit Healer.

Name: Irindre

Appearance: Long flowing skirts, off-the shoulder tops with bell-sleeves, a floral-print cloak with different floral-print patches (hey, it was my mothers!) boots that come up to just over the knee, multiple piercings in the ear (sort of like Varric, but not such big rings) Long, flowing dark hair, done up in braids and curls, henna designs on the hands and arms, lots of dark eyeliner....

Background: A poor gypsy girl who travels amongst the docks and merchant ships as a cook, seamstress or laundress to hide from Templars. She tries to flirt her way out of situations. If things go bad, the person messing with her will find the seat of their pants suddenly catch fire, and while they're running for water to put it out, she's making her getaway.

Personality: She's generally happy-go-lucky, but very nervous around Templars and chantries. She's a loyal person, works hard, but has a hard time proving her own self-worth to herself. She's a bit of a rag-tag and has a soft place in her heart for stray animals, she constantly wants to save any dog or cat she meets and take them under wing. She might be considered a bit eccentric. Even though she's a human, she prefers the Dalish gods to the Chantry's Maker, and studies about them whenever she can, before she is ran out of libraries or shops that carry informative scrolls. She uses her limited Dalish knowledge to perform what she calls "rituals" or "spellcrafting", believing that she can entice the Dalish god's help for certain matters. She meets Hawke by bumping into him on the docks of Kirkwall while dodging a Templar patrol. She'd be a possible LI for male Hawke.

Quotes:

"Aww, who's a cute puppy? You're a cute puppy, yes you are!"
(To Male Hawke) "You're so fuzzy! I love your fuzzy... Can I pet the fuzzy?"

Since I know nothing about Hawke and if the pre-made character is worth following yet, I'd likely just be a rogue along for the ride and riches, looking for opportunity and a good place to jump ship when things get a little too dicey. Non-descript clothing with a short cape and cowl (it's easier to hide daggers that way), I would leave the flashy, eye-catching attire to the hero. That way he makes a better target. Stealing from rich humans would be my past time, and perhaps dabbling in the arcane arts. Perhaps this could be why I left my clan, a potential rival to the Keeper's favorite student or just a spirit that wanted to see the world. Who says a rogue can't be a mage? It's a natural gift I tell you! Weaving the Fade to aid in stealth, nimblness in combat and forging frightful illusions to harm enemies would be the focus of the magic. Amatures rely on evocations.

Oh yes, and my character would likely be a Dalish elf because I can't imagine playing a human for very long in a fantasy game. Image IPB

Ser Jory of course. I'm really ok by the way. I do still have this large whole in my midsection and a little greyish in the skin pigmentation area but ok otherwise.

See a funny thing happened after Duncan so heinously ran me through at the joining a while back. Granted my body did sit there draining out on the stone for a while but I was saved by a peculiar type of spirit. A spirit of pure timidness. I can't rightly say why that spirit chose to give a piece of itself to me so that I could live once again, but then again who really knows anything about these spirits anyhow.

True, a spirit of Glory, Justice or Valor would have been ideal but, by Andraste's sword, I cant argue with the outcome. Truth be told, I dont much feel different now then I had before this whole ordeal.

I went back to my pregnant wife in Highever shortly after but she, sadly, would not have me back, mostly due to the somewhat undead nature of my appearance I suppose. Now I wonder the realms in search of some great adventure or adventurer that will have me. Surely there must be some grand scheme at work here? Now i'm not a coward but I prefer not to do anything foolish or wreckless. I mean, I am just trying to stay alive-ish. But there is no glory in this new life if I cannot make something of it.

I think I shall travel north. Towards The Free Marches. I hear there is always a need for heroes up that way and It should get me faaar away from any witches and darkspawn.
