Ok, so I have a gripe, or a something.... I  am  wanting better hairs for elves.  Long curly hairs, cool hair like TMP's CGI Leliana Hair, or the DWBH for Elves etc.  I just do not have the ability to do it (more like the time).  Now I am sure there are lurkers out there.... you know who you are... yeah you are reading this... Make us some beautiful new hairs, or just blendy or whatever them so we can make MAGNIFICENT new morphs of Stunning elves for you.  I Implore you.  I will give you digital cookies!!!Posted Image

And some of us yes some of us will make those into mods, that you lurkers can download and play to your hearts consent.  And if you make the beautiful hair, and I myself make the Wonderful elf..(well I am not that good but I try) I will credit your wonderfull ness so much for the most magnificent hair.

Curly hair.  Like Katriel from "The Calling"  By David Gaider.  Please o please modding Goddesses and Gods... I implore.
And yes will repost this over and over in other forums, cause I am that desperate....Posted Image

I asked tmp7704 about making a feminine version of Zevran's hair (with earrings of course), but he hasn't been on in a while, it seems.

use the toolset yourself, its not that hard. If you really want a specific hairstyle, who better than to make it than yourself?

I've put that on the list of things to keep in mind. Not having much time for mods at the moment though, so it's difficult to say when i'll find a while to take care of it Posted Image

Ok, so is there a tutorial or something to get started with?

Mecha Tengu: For one, I imagine this kinda stuff requires blender and / or other programs like it. I'm not so good with them, and Two, I'm in my college dorm on a crappy laptop, so that doesn't work out for me at all.

tmp7704: Sweet! I just didn't know you have seen my comment. Always appreciate your work, can't wait to see it!

Yeah, i read the comments, usually just reply when it's some problem that needs addressing though, so the comment lists don't get too long. This way people have less pages to clicking through :)

I can use the toolset, I just do not have the time nor the experience with the other programs that are involved to make, or adapt hairs.  I do believe I stated that in my first post.  Now if you know how to do these things, and are aware of a place/tutorial as Mochen above asked then feel free to post a link.Posted Image

Custom hair has nothing to do with the toolset. You need to use either Blender or 3DS Max/GMax (or another 3D app and import your mesh into one of those).

Making Zevran's hair for a female Elf should, in theory, be pretty straight forward, as long as the male and female meshes are the same height. You'd just need to import the actual hair mesh and dump it onto the female Elf rig with the female scalp mesh and export a new model.

@ DarthParametric~Thanks! Now what if it is a human hair that I would want to adapt to an elf? Are there any tutorials? Do you know what programs I would need? I can make morphs, but 3D modeling is new territory to me, hence the post. If I can find time I will try, just need help.

I remember hearing that hairs between humans and elves are easy, you just need to account for the height. converting either kind of hair to dwarves is a pain, apparently.

I second what Saerwen says here. The male hair community is also severly lacking great hair. I also do face morphs, right now for females, but I think I will be branching into male morphs, over at the Nexus. I would give tons of digital cookies for all of those hairstyles Saerwen listed to be converted over to elves. :)

I did read the blog..however, I have no access to an outside source for blending etc. I will try what I can in toolset, but past attempts resulted in toolset crashes for me. :(

I do have a question, where in the hair files would one account for height? Like, if I were to use the toolset alone to convert the height of a human hair to elven height, where would I look? i did a search at one point here, and was able to get a file named for an elf, but trying to convert the height always crashed my toolset.

Sorry hehe, I am a bit of a noob at all of this, but I would love to know how to do it myself if possible. :)

Each hair style for each gender and race is a different model (mesh) you need to use a 3d modeling program to change them. I don't think you can use the toolset for that, what file are you using how are you trying to change the height?

I was using some of tmp's tucked hair earring hair. And i was sort of afraid of that, lol. Well, I can try to get ahold of a copy of photoshop, and see if I can follow that tutorial step by step. :) I was trying to change values within the file itself to adjust height. Renaming allowed me to put the hair option within the elf hairs in the toolset, but obviously did nothing to help with the height issue. So I was taking values from one elven hairstyle that was similar and plugging it in to the newly named file. Then the crashes started.

Pretty sure my cousin has photoshop, I could borrow it from her and see what i can do, heehee.:)

If you just want to make the human hair fit into the elf, you won't need photoshop, but a 3d modelling software like 3d max, gmax or blender, those two you can download in those links. If you want only change the hair's colour then you need a paint program like photoshop or gimp.

Okies, thank you. :) I have been trying to use DA Tool in Blender actually. Seems I lose one or the other, and have to start over. Yeah, it's just the height I want to change for now. I have the feeling I am doing alot of extra work i don't have to, and then I get an error and have to begin anew. :( I am going to search again and see what I can come up with, if I could get a step by step on how to make it all work, I think I would pass out, because that sort of thing is what a noobie like me needs for this, lol.

The tutorial is great for making your own custom hair, but the conversion seems to be missing to me. i will go back to that as well, see if I missed something.

Let's do a step by step kind of post by post, the first thing you need to do is get Blender 2.49 and the DragonBlender plugin install them and get them running.

Then extract one elf hair model from the toolset, do you know how to do that?
