the only thing i have to complain on DA2 until now are the darkspawn (though it feels like i'm beating an already rotting dead horse by talking about it) designs... to me at least, they look too clean for beings that are supposed to be infected with the taint which already is a black viscous liquid similar to blood that is part of these creatures. some grime, wounds, gashes and oozing taint in the darkspawn bodies could make them look a lot more menacing (uneven teeth too, by the screenshots it looks like a blight gives free dental care to its darkspawn). but i'm probably making a storm in a glass of water so just consider it some feedback on the early designs.

True. According to David Gaider, the kittens suffer the worst part of the devs rage.

I think you have to consider the source considering the wide range of their audience. The poster could be 12. (the YOU ALL SUCK reminds me of running thru any zone in any MMO, you get used to it.)

I also think everyone should work retail at some time in their life. Gave me a new insight and respect for anyone that has to deal with the public.

Agreed and QFT.

Also if you live breathe and eat games I reccomend working at Major Games Retailer X, you know the one, at least for a summer. It's not going to be the best time of your life but when the media whines about games corrupting children, you can regale them with accounts of oblivious parents waving off the Mature contents because "it's just a game."

Edit: Then again, and I'm betting this the same everywhere, but you can be the only person in the mall who can answer someone's inane google-able questions and they will still insult you if you happen to not know the answer. That's not fun.

I have been of this opinion for a very long time, but this is the first time I have seen someone else of the same mind.

A good question would also be do the devs get a good laugh at some of the more ridiculous behaviour on these forums, I'd guess that would be a yes but they're probably WAY too professional to ever comment on them individually or give examples.

Not so! It's not us who harm the kittens-- we are just hapless enablers of the carnage.

As for getting offended, meh. We'd have to possess thick skins if we're willing to come here, but some people certainly do seem to use that as an excuse to indulge in @sshattery of epic proportions. That can be annoying, especially when coupled with gross ignorance. Thankfully they're still exceptions. If most people here weren't intelligent and interesting folks to interact with, we wouldn't come here at all.

It's possible but the average gamer is mid to late 20's.

When I worked at a public library kids, more or less, were a lot more mature compared to the whiny adults with superiority complexes. :)

You could say that about any job though to be honest, some people have to clean those tunnels where our poo goes to for minimum wage, some people have to do a 70 hour week working on a furnace just to put food on the table, some people are aged 5 and have to do 90 hours a week in a sweat shop to scrape together enough for a loaf of bread.

On the reverse side of the coin I heard that someone has got a job massaging oil into Kylie Minogues arse cheeks. :P

You know, you guys suck. You suck, your games suck, and you suck, too. You suck so hard, it's unbelievable. I bet you fail at real life, too.

Now leave me alone, I'm off to playing Origins some more.

I'd guess it can be frustrating at first, but the novelty wears off eventually. How long it takes before the developer stops giving a flying damn and lets it all fly over their head probably depends on the developer's personality. But even the softest skins should get bored of caring sooner or later.

I live/work/learn in a community of gamers basically so there's not much opportunity to shut people down. What IS fun, however, is coming across the one parent who hears the warnings and takes them seriously, and then they drag their dejected children off somewhere else. I was always eager to lose sales to good parenting.

Edit: Oh the memories. Then my coworkers would chime in, and the 20 year olds on the other side of the store would verify the blood/gore content, it was like the modern interpretation of "it takes a village to raise a child." Magic.

Unfortunately my experiences as well.  I always find it amusing when an adult tells a kid to "grow up" or "act like an adult" - it's usually when the kid IS acting like most adults that they get this lecture.
Selfishness.  Entitlement.  Sense of superiority.  "Don't tell me what to do."  So on.

There are no more childish people than adults acting like adults.

I get offended by bad science and people using the anonymity and accessibility and lack of accountability of the internet to be a jerkface. And yes, the personal insults get a little, well, personal. If it would be appropriate for me to take a list of names and silly complaints and compile a big "I told you so" letter after the fact to those who were patently wrong, I would, but that would make me the jerkface. :)

Generally, though, i love our community and our fans and gamers in general. it's one reason i'm still here.

instead of sending that letter, it's just as satisfying to see those kind of posters fade into written silence when the game shows it's strengths, even more if they're clinging to their very end:devil:

I doubt if it is, actually, since most of them don't acknowledge they were wrong. I'm betting it would be much more satisfying if just once the devs could write that big ol' "I told you so, doofus" letter.

Offended? Not really. We know more about the flaws in the game than most fans ever will.

There's been a number of times, though, when I've started a forum post with one of:

- "Oh, honey, no."

- "It's adorable that you feel that way."

- "Listen, son, I don't like your tone."

or

- "Damn, you're right. We really are on a mission to ruin everything forever."

... And then closed the browser window, because whatever followed just wouldn't be helpful, productive, or professional. I figure it's worth sacrificing some sarcastic satisfaction to make the forums a nicer place for everyone!

Yet, the appreciators of true sarcasm and humour must be deprived of such nuggets. What a pity.

Who does?

Every time a forumite says something should be simple to do, a kitten gets punted through a plate glass window.

So who's really responsible for that carnage?

I think we all know the answer to that.
