Whether he lives or dies Shepard's story ends at ME3, but the end of the Shepard Trilogy isn't necessarily the end of the Mass Effect universe. In fact Bioware has even hinted that the Mass Effect franchise *might* extend beyond Mass Effect 3, though Shepard would no longer be the main character. But does that rule out his squadmates from returning as well?

Liara is IIRC 108 or 109 years old during the events of LotSB, very young for a member of a species that can live to over 1,000 years old. With that in mind and with Liara now established as one of the most powerful and important people in the galaxy, what are the chances that we might run into her in future Mass Effect games beyond ME3? Even if future Mass Effect games were set several centuries after the events of ME3, Liara could very well still be alive and kicking, and still the most powerful information broker in the galaxy. Would she be the Flemeth of the Mass Effect franchise, and a common link between all the protagonists in the Mass Effect universe?

Of course I realize this is all wild speculation and Bioware might not even have any ideas for what they are going to do beyond ME3, if they continue the franchise at all. But wild speculation can sometimes be fun. Posted Image

I'd rather spinoffs not feature characters from within the trilogy.

But thats just me.

I would welcome that, if of course the games warranted a purchase. Long drawn out franchises tend to fall apart after a while. CoD, Halo, Medal of Honor, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and so many others.

It would be cool I think though to have Liara be a stablizing element, and she definitely has the paranoia to last that long as the SB.

Plus I can't imagine Bioware having Liara offed by some random NPC that takes her place as Shadowbroker. If she doesn't die during ME3 I would assume she lives a full life and dies of natural causes.

Liara's really the only one that could fill this role, especially if the story is set centuries in the future.

I would be glad, as I love Liara's character oh so much.

Having Liara being the link back to the original trilogy in following ME spin-off games would be quite awesome. But I have a bad feeling that Liara's plot armor will finally be removed in ME3. :?

Liara's plot armor will be removed in ME3(or should be), so I doubt any future ME games will feature her. In fact, I don't any ME games after ME3 to feature any of the characters from the Shepard trilogy.

For: Aedan_Cousland

Liara is not just became an "interesting female person" of the game. In my opinion, she is almost "a literary character." Therefore, we will see her in the next part of game (necessarily). I think that will be new comics with her participation. Difficult to imagine "the Universe ME» without Liara T’Sony. Therefore, after completion of the trilogy, we shall meet her. I would like to believe it. I have tried to present her story in a small fan-plot. Beautiful music (Jack Wall and Two Steps from Hell) helped me in this. I sent it for some my friends. But if you're interested - take a look:

It is interesting to fantasize about the future of Liara T’Sony. I think that after many years she will become Justiciar. Not so cruel as Samara. But the fighter for justice. She will "continue fighting” of commander Shepard.

And I agree with you: "wild speculation can sometimes be fun".

I would be glad to understand - what character traits of Liara T'Soni you interested in most?

For me it only makes sense to make spin-offs featuring some of the current Mass Effect characters. We've already established a bond with a number of characters. Many deserve to be explored. Like I've said before, you could easily have a whole game centered around Samara or Jack or the Quarian Fleet. I think it would be great to have a 12-15 hour game which features stories from 3-4 characters from the ME universe.

This, although playing as Liara (or another game featuring her) could be interesting. The only real road block would be of course Shepard and what s/he did, but that can be overcome using an import feature or the player inputting what happened. Or if less fortunate, keeping things vague/having a canon/or not mentioning past (variable) events.

I was a little underwhelmed by Liara in ME1 and ME2, but I like what they've done in the DLC. Playing as Liara could be very interesting and very enjoyable.

That said, I can understand why her fans may not like the idea (or why they may, conversely).

I truly believe that the image of Lyra T'Soni is a great success of the company "Bioware".

Of course this does not prevent the fans of other heroes. In my game Liara passes throughout the ME1 and ME2 (romance). Certainly “saves” will continue this story and in the third part of the game too. Let's wait for the continuation of the story. Maybe the new DLC.

Wrex or Grunt could potentially reappear in future Mass Effect games as well. As I recall the Krogan are naturally long lived, it's just that they usually die a violent death long before they get a chance to die from old age. I suppose Samara could as well, though her remaining years are much shorter than Liara's.

Highly unlikely, as both Wrex and Grunt can possibly be dead, and if they were to appear in future games without any influence from each individual player's savegame, it would be canonising Shepard's character and choices.

Liara is the only character that could fulfill this role, as her survival is currently guaranteed and she is unable to die. As people have previously stated, she could be the one constant that continues to exist in Mass Effect spinoff games set centuries in the future.

I'd love it if this were to happen, as Liara is by far my favourite character and I adore her!

It's not just you. I do not want to see Liara in any future ME games after ME3. I don't think we will see any of the characters from the trilogy in any future ME games.
