I was going through the Redcliffe section of the main quest and initially indicated that I may go along with the option of sacrificng the mother of Conner. However I changed my mind and informed the Redcliffe nobles about the Circle option was what I had decided to do. I went, completed the Circle Tower section and brought the mages back to Redcliffe. The circle option was a sucess which means the mother would not have to sacrifice herself. The quest was completed with Conner and his mother alive and well. However the codex / journal did not update and still listed the mother as heroically sacrificing herself. I was just wondering if this was meant to happen and if it would affect gameplay later on in game? Specifically when I return to hopefully cure the Arl. No bugs noticed yet.

I did the same thing and my codex also reads that the Arl's wife sacrificed herself. She will continue to appear in their castle correctly, though, so don't worry about that. As far as I can tell it does not affect the game world.
