Such a complex issue

Further note that Dragon Age has a different type of societey. If it was supposed to be similiar to our medieval times, it wasn't uncommon to live and stay with your family, mostly until you get married, go to war, etc.
just realized every origins except mage and dalish has the warden living with atleast one parent

Is Hawke an unshaven, nolife teenager who lives with his mom and dreams of slaying dragons and gaining power?
Yes, it makes his rise to Champion all the more monumental, if he was already a fully independant and steady individual his rise to power wouldn't be so meteoric.
Maybe.

The Warden was apparently very young, though. Perhaps a teenager, even.Shadow_broker wrote...

In the Dalish origin you were even still da'leen, or child, so I'm thinking around 18-20. Probably the same for all of them. Hawke will probably be around that age too, maybe a little older to justify the awesomeness of the beard.Ortaya Alevli wrote...

I'd say maybe... late teens to early twenties at the beginning of the story.

There is nothing wrong with living with your parents when you can't afford your own place and you can't find a single person you can trust not to steal your stuff.Shadow_broker wrote...
And why is he still living with his mom?

Think about the time period DA mirrors and extended families living together is not uncommon in many cultures today.

But assuming this isn't true of hawke and his apperance is around 30, if he's 25 at start of game and 35 at end, both those ages can match his apperance. (I'm assuming that the charactor model won't change/age, cause y'know, even I think that sounds expensive and complicated and I know nothing about game developement.) Though I think he could be as young as 22.

Beards can make some people older to the point that when people find out how young you are they're shocked if you have a particularily big/grand/thick beard.

I agree. Beards are subjective- I've seen people who have never been able to grow one and people who have full beards at 17 or so. That makes it hard to tell his age. But I would think he couldn't be too far into his 20's, especially since the game lasts ten years. Assuming Hawke becomes Champion towards the end of that period, he would need to still be young enough to be in good fighting condition for when that happens.

Just being 17, one of my really good friends can actually grow a very impressive beard. Just about as epic as Hawke's. Literally the same kind of beard and everything.
But age wise still, I would place Hawke at early-mid twenties. And being early or mid-thirties by the end of Dragon Age 2.

Women should always look younger, even if they are really older, and you should always say they look younger even if they don't really look younger. We use creams, or maybe tree sap. :innocent:

And one of my nephews is bald at the age of 24. So was his uncle. I wouldn't use beard or hair style to judge the age. My guess would also be somewhere around mid twenties, maybe 24 - 27 at the oldest.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It seems like it would make sense for him/her to start out relatively young (around the age of The Warden), with Bethany and Carver maybe 1-3 years younger.

While it does depend on the culture, that is more of a modern invention.
