Hello!
I hope someone helps because I'm getting desperate
At Redcliff, when the undead invades the village, whenever I try to get past preparations and wait for sundown I get the message "Unable to load area" shortly after the load screen. My disc has no scratches or whatsoever and my other games work perfectly.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Reload before Redcliffe and don't help them.

I had this happen to me. At least at the point that I found it, no one had come up with an answer except for the valve/steam gamers who talked about an option to idk, check for corruption of some sort.

For those of us sorry sots who bought the disk, I now do have a fix, although many will find it unpalatable. {note back up your computer before trying all this, I am not responsible if you try this and hose your machine!} I backed up my characters and then uninstalled the game, opting to not keep settings or characters. I wrote 0s to my freespace to make sure there was nothing left. I scanned my registry and deleted everything that said bioware, dragon age, or EA. Then I reinstalled the game and started a new character and was able to get to the area (for me it was camp). I haven't had the heart to try putting my old chars back in, for fear I will have to do it all once again if the corruption is somewhere in those files.

Good luck!

you know, I don't think this has to do with the saved games themselves. I've run four characters through origins without any problems, and just today I got the "unable to load area" problem (for me it's the brecilian forest). this problem now even shows up for those characters that have completed the forest already. sadly, I'm no wiser than all the others here having this problem on how to fix it. I'll try installing the latest patch again and to see if that helps. (I'm still reluctant to do a complete reinstall, but that may be the only solution, yet).
nevertheless I think the old saves should work.

EDIT: since reapplying the latest patch didn't work I reinstalled the game. after that, it worked again... until I installed all the mods I use. I managed to track down the one causing the problem and now the error is gone. so, for all who have this problem, and who use mods try to find out, if one of them is causing the problem, before reinstalling everything (for that took me 5 hours including the search for the problematic mod <_<).

a good method would be first deleting everything in your override folder and testing, if the problematic areas work again. if so, restore the override and try finding the specific problem causer there. otherwise see if it's one of the mods within your addins folder.

hope this solution works for some others as well! good luck!
