The Firepower Pack adds three new weapons to Shepard's armor locker:
When a “heavy” pistol won’t do the job, the Phalanx brings the bang! It
hits like a hand cannon and features an integral laser sight for a whole
new aiming experience! Ever wanted a sniper rifle without the scope or
an assault rifle without the recoil? The Mattock heavy rifle is a hybrid
of the two, a semi-auto beast usable by any class with an assault rifle
skill! The Geth Plasma Shotgun is a three-barreled monster that creates
plasma the right way -- on impact! Charge it up for even greater
damage, or blast away rapid-fire at longer ranges than normal shotguns!

=========================================================================================

The Aegis Pack adds the M-29 Incisor sniper rifle and the Kestrel armor
to Shepard’s armor locker. The Incisor sniper rifle is a burst-fire
weapon that excels in destroying enemy shields. The Kestrel armor comes
in five pieces: The Kestrel Helmet adds weapon damage, shield strength,
and headshot damage. The Kestrel Torso Sheath adds melee and weapon
damage and shield strength. Kestrel Arm Sheathing adds melee and weapon
damage and shield strength. Kestrel Shoulder Pieces adds shields and
melee damage. The Kestrel hip-mounted Power Pack ups shields and heavy
weapon ammo capacity.

=========================================================================================

The Equalizer Pack adds the Capacitor Helmet, Archon Visor, and Inferno
Armor to Shepard’s armor locker. The Capacitor Helmet stores power for
kinetic barriers, allowing Shepard’s shields to recharge faster. The
Archon Visor manages omni-tools and biotic amps, reducing the recharge
time of Shepard’s powers. The powered Inferno Armor speeds up Shepard’s
movements and increases his tech and biotic power damage. Stress
analysis software even gives him an edge in negotiations outside of
combat.

Hey all, I'm doing a brand new run on ME2 as a Sentinel on Insanity difficulty (first playthrough) and I'm wondering which of the above packs would be the best to use? I'm thinking of doing the Aegis back due to the boost in shield and weapon damage, but the Equalizer pack is looking pretty good as well. Any insight is appreciated.

Yeah, most likely aegis. The kestrel armour does have some nice bonuses.

Firepower pack weapons are great, but it's not like the sentinel really needs them anyway.

firepower pack is the best of the three. when your sentinel picks up bonus training, the mattock and GPS will be godly.

Without creating another topic, would it be more beneficial to pick Assault Rifles or Sniper Rifles? I'm leaning more towards Sniper Rifles (Widow Maker) since I prefer to lay low and pick people off from the back as my team attempts to go there jobs haha.

The Widow is only available to soldiers and infiltrators sorry. You would get to choose from the incisor, the mantis, and the viper.

Not if I modded the weapon and load out. Knowing that though which weapons are available for Assasult Rifle?

Tons. In-game only weapons include the avenger, geth pulse rifle, revenant (modding) and the vindicator. Through DLC there is the mattock and the collector assault rifle.

Aegis pack. The armor is heavy on the bonuses. And your team snipers get the incisor which is worth them having on insanity. For a sentinel, the firepower pack is not necessary at all. Good to get, though, but the Aegis pack will benefit you more overall.

I'd definitely recommend the Firepower and Aegis Pack too. The Aegis offers good bonuses and the Mattock with the FP pack is a beast of weapon to have if you're a class that is initially restricted to pistols and SMGs. I do have the Equalizer Pack, but I rarely use the items from it since they look so darn ugly.

Aegis is best for a sentinel, but you should get that and the firepower pack. The equalizer pack is an easy pass to be honest. I only use the capacitor helmet out of all the it, and only on insanity when I need a 10% bonus to shield recharge. And the Incisor rifle = worst gun in the game IMO. Fires a burst of 3 shots at 50 damage each, 15 bursts out of all your ammo. The mattock does more damage than that, and you can fire it faster. Viper is almost twice as powerful as the Incisor, with double the ammo

I personally prefer the Aegis pack because the armor can be worn by any class immediately. Firepower pack is nice but unless you load the weapons up front, Sentinels wont benefit much in the beginning.

Also, the best SMG is in the Kasumi DLC... darn BW sure knows how to make money >.<"

Every weapon in the firepower pack is crazy awesome. Mattocks owns its class and geth plasma shotgun is really fun to use on engineer, sentinel, infiltrator and soldier. Phalanx is the only gun with laser sighting and crazy accuracy. Aegis pack is kinda nice, the kestrel gives small, slightly noticable bonuses, and the incisor wich is only good on squadmates and terrible on Shepard. I think you get way more bang for your buck with the Firepower Pack. It actually changes the way you play, unlike the two other DLC's and you get more variety in guns, wich is always nice.

A sentinel with the geth plasma shotgun is a beast.

Armor doesn't really make a noticeable difference in the game, so the Aegis and Equalizer packs are more of a miss. However, the Aegis pack comes with the Incisor. The Incisor is a rather poor weapon in Shepard's hands, due to it's ammo usage, but in the hands of squadmates (especially Thane and Zaeed), the thing is amazing. It doesn't seem to have any sort of reduction to it's damage output when wielded by a squadmate, so you get more damage by having Thane and Zaeed use the thing than you would with most other setups. And between the Incisor's bonus against Shields/Barriers, Thane's Warp, and Zaeed's Inferno Grenade, you've got a squad that can deal with just about anything. Though I will be the first to admit that Inferno Grenade doesn't hold a candle to Incinerate in terms of damage.

Don't bother with the Equalizer Pack. All the items in it are open-faced helms, and I've heard that one of them doesn't even work.

As for the Firepower pack, each weapon in it is pretty solid. The Phalanx is more of a personal taste weapon, and takes some getting used to, but the Mattock and the Geth Pulse Shotgun are simply amazing.

The Equilizer pack is evil and wants to kill your family.

So it is between Aegis and Firepower.

Do you want armour or guns?

I would go with Firepower.

I picked up the Aegis and Firepower Pack and it's made my first 4 hrs a freaking cake walk. I love the Phalanx Heavy Pistol. The Kestrel Armour is savage, I replaced the helmet with a 10% Headshot Damage Visor though. Thanks for all the feed back guys.

Kestrel Armor is overrated, there is basically no difference between Kestrel and basic N7 armor.

Firepower pack is by far the best bang for your money.

But there is one difference...

Kestrel Armor is my favorite armor :P

Especially on female Shepard because it is more realistic. Who would make female armor with boobs... <_< "Ah yes - N7"

And you have absolutely no idea how upgrades work, obviously.

It may seem far superior on paper, but in the game it makes very little difference and you will not notice it anyways.

Test it in the game and then talk.

Yeah, right. +25% Shield Strength (compared to 3%) is very little difference. +11 and +30% weapon/melee damage is little difference as well...yeeah...

Tested 2 times with 2 Vanguards at Hardcore since the beginning of both games. And it makes things waaay easier (maybe even too easy). So yes, I've tested it.

I found the boost to melee noticeable, and if you pick the right options for other pieces, the kestrel chestplate is very useful. But mostly, yeah, there isn't really anything that you can do with Kestrel that you couldn't do with basic N7 armour, no matter what the numbers say. Things like 3% extra shields and 5% extra heavy weapon ammo do not really translate into anything noticeable in-game.

I get the feeling Kronner was asking for numbers. If you check how long it takes to bring down a Heavy Barrier on insanity (+100% shields) - Hint: it's a matter of adding a fraction of a second onto their protection under fire - then I'm afraid the '+25% shields' you mention doesn't equate to much in reality.

That's the problem with the upgrades in the game. They're all based on percentages, and the starting numbers are very small. So the percentage boosts don't make that much difference.

I honestly don't know if the armor you wear makes any difference, despite the stats. I bought DAO just to get the Blood Dragon Armor for the 15% power damage to use on my Adept Insanity playthrough. It worked ok, but now I use the Krestel ( without the helmet ) because it looks cool. The helmet on in dialog was a pain because the character animation of the eyes an face is one of the cool parts of this game that you miss with blood dragon armor. My current Insanity playthrough with adept is with Krestel, and I don't notice any the difference. There might be some but its a really small part.

All percents are bonuses to the base value, that's why they're weak. BDA adds 30 damage to heavy warp, regardless of upgrades or class passives. 25% bonus shields is a "whopping" 50 points. That's like, 1 more shot typically, and nothing more. You'd be better off dancing around a frozen enemy to let them take bullets for you. The melee bonuses are really the only armor bonuses you'll ever feel actually working, and that's because melee has a high base, and no bonuses against any protections. Heavy Muscle Weave+Strength Boost Pads+Kestral Arms gives you a nice even 200 point melee attack.

If you think the Phalanx is good, wait until you try the other weapons.

The Geth Plasma Shotgun in particular is fun for a sentinel.

You should try playing DAO. It's really quite fun :)
