Same. The last time I bought a retail game in Australia was DA:O CE. Since then, overseas. Most recently, OZGameShop.

When I bought from the EA store, it charged me extra for the PC copy, instead of less like everywhere else. I paid $72 for EA for 3-4 day delivery, but canceled when GameStop offered their Deal of the Day free Overnight, and paid $53 from them.

Yeah, PlayAsia is pretty reasonable. Plus the shipping rate is only around $5 so that's reasonable. So you're looking at around $60 instead of a horribly inflated $120.

The last game I bought from a store here in Oz was Mass Effect 2 itself, haha. Payed $80 at Big W. Otherwise, I rarely buy games from the major retailers. Especially EB, which seems to strive to try and nab every cent they can.

If a retailers is choosing to elevate their prices, and there is another retailer who has cheaper prices, then I know what I would do.

Was that too cryptic? I'm saying "buy the game at the retailer who charges the best price. If EB Games is too high, shop at Game which looks to be cheaper.

Wow. Did not expect it to be that cheap, especially coming from them. That is actually pretty darn slick. Hopefully it stays that way.
Here's hoping the 360 sees a similar drop in price! Or better yet, a Mac version gets released simultaneously!

Unfortunately, it's not that simple in Australia when all retailer are usually asking for roughly the same price.

It really is better to just buy overseas.

I was told from someone that the price is subject to change.  I went to confirm it at an actual GAME store and they said the same thing.

Welp, that isn't good news. You'd hope that they'd stick true to their promotion though.

Who knows?  Maybe the guy is wrong.  I tried to argue the price at an EBGames joint and pointed them in the direction of the Game price and they said the same thing, as well as pointing out that it was some kind of online-only price, which is BS.

It doesn't matter to me.  But, it does matter to those people who don't know any better.

I'd be content if it was as described and the price applying for Online Only was set. I purchase most of my games through online anyway.

In any case, there probably will be a lot more store promotions as the release date draws nearer. At least you'd hope so.

Yeah, I hope so. I remember when the DA2 price at EB was competitive with GAME and people preordered it. The next day the price went up and lots of people complained. Not sure what became of that. It's not that there's a problem with GameStop, it's just the locals.

Great, I feel like I'm complaining. xD

I'm keeping my eye on that link. Even if it goes up a tad it will still be cheaper than most of the sites in AU.

Hmm, I didn't even think about Play-Asia, typically not the place where I would buy western RPGs. Still, GAME seems to have the best price out of the four Aussie sites (although I did see JB drop their price recently) but so far their website doesn't reflect the SE. My biggest fear is that I will just get a "normal" preorder and the retailer won't care that I bought it before 11/1/11 or not.

Can't you pre-order the digital version via the EA store? It should not overcharge you.

The AU version of the EA Store doesn't have DA 2 listed at all yet (and the site forces you to choose your country/region so we can't just get it off the NA EA Site). Anyway, I'd prefer to get a physical copy, I want a smexy black SE box to sit next to my white Origins box.

My girlfriend had to pay $70 for Pokemon HGSS, whereas in the US, that game is $40 without tax. Definitely overcharging there.

EDIT: Now she's importing all of her games from US, including the upcoming Pokemon Black & White.

I heard that the new one is lookin' quite dumb...

OT:  Guess people should just shop around.  Is it okay to open a thread that lists all the cheapest places to buy?  Or are we not allowed to do that on Bioware forums?

Hey guys and gals, looks like some of the retailers have updated their websites today (all except the EA Store anyway). I'll link the PC versions for each store. Looks like JB and GAME are going to be slightly cheaper than EB.

EB Games
JB Hi-Fi
GAME

I'm leaning towards GAME since they do free shipping, still it is tempting to import from overseas and only pay $50 instead of $84 but given you'd still have to pay for overseas shipping.. it probably adds up to be about the same.
