If they make it too easy, i won't buy it, I won't tell people in world of warcraft that it's good. They lose the word of mouth to 11 million world of warcraft subscriptions.

Warcraft lost it's hardcore endgame material. The only thing left is Arena PvP. Will dragonage II save us RPG people from this thing called activision? Blizzard is overrun by businessmen.

Bioware got it right with ME2. If they can replicate those difficulty levels for DA2, everyone should be happy.

ME2 was the easiest game I've played in years.... on insanity

What games have you been playing?

Sorry if i can't help but think you are exaggerating.

Like what you do would actually mean somehting. If you don't like game because it's not what you want. Just make list of games what you don't like and go and spam them in WoW. I'm pretty sure you reputation will become good when doing it.

Bah...
This is the internetz. I can say that I finished Origins on Nightmare with my eyes closed, and holding the controller with my feet.

Exagerating about other games maybe.... But believe me when I say that ME2 Insanity on PC was very easy for me. Difficulties on shooters across platforms sucks because a mouse and keyboard are so much more faster and accurate then joysticks. I breezed through all dificulty levels.

I wasn't talking about how PC's have better graphics or how pc games allow for more content and longer games or how consols are bring the accepted quality of video games down across the board. Wasn't talking about any of that.

Just stated that mouse and keyboard are faster and more responsive then joysticks. which is acually true.

And there he does it again...

Do you have any idea how idiocally false that statement is? You do understand that a console is merely a specialized computer that fits into a more compact case right? Or that not everyone is financially capable of periodically upgrading their PCs, meaning that much less than a majority of players play their games with the "maximum settings," resulting in a drastically reduced graphical disparity between a console and a PC?

Or how about the fact that IF the quality of games is decreasing (and since the term "quality" is subjective we could have an entire discussion about that alone), it's due to companies attempting to find more customers? And of course then you'd know that this would require them to change their games significantly to reach a wider audience, which may or may not result in reducing the quality (as we can define separately)? But then you'd also realize that if consoles simply didn't exist, then the supposed "quality" of PC games would fall anyway since it's the wider audience in general needing to be reached, not simply because they play on a particular platform?

You do understand that right? If consoles didn't exist, the attempt to bring in more customers to the fold would result in the exact same changes you see today. It has nothing to do with the "hardware" they play on.

Someone over on the ME boards once explained to me that boasting about your skillz is the norm among console players, and that you never get a serious answer when asking how hard a game is. Don't ask me if it's true or not; I don't know any console players IRL except for my nieces and nephews. They are only a little worse than I am at ME2, but I don't think I'm all that awesome at it myself.

As far as "eyes closed" goes, though , I did once see a guy beat Dragon's Lair with his back to the machine.

Its off topic anyway, and he has a valid point about fps games with a mouse vs. a controller.

With the exception of Street Fighter 4, I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer, simply because I'm not that good and don't have the time to devote to it. Right now I'm struggling with DA on the default setting.

That said, I wouldn't want to deprive hardcore gamers their opportunity, and games in general have indeed become easier for the same point you cite: accessibility to casual gamers. Arkham Asylum is the perfect example. 2 tough boss fights, and the rest truly is a breeze on the hardest setting. There's no reason for that.

If a game has 3 or 4 difficulty settings, the highest should be beatable only by the smartest and most devoted gamers.

He's still right that M&K is better than a controller. At least for aiming; I'm not sure if movement is better with WASD or with a controller. I'm a sniper at heart , so I'd prefer M&K anyway.

As for the cost thing, how long do consoles last between generations?

You know...the 360 is almost five years old, and it doesn't look like it'll die soon (with so many great games coming out next year). So, it's not the same. And still, a console is cheaper than a powerful PC.
As for the mouse, yup, it's better for aiming, but the WASD...I don't like it. I hate to play with a Keyboard. The stick feels better for movement, in my opinion.

Each control method has advantages/disadvantages over others based on what type of game is being played. No one "thing" is the end all, be all. But that's not really what I was getting at anyway.

On topic: I too think that multiple difficulties are a good thing and that the difference between each step should be more pronounced.

And where encounters never change and are heavily scripted, not to mention the boss battles blatently copying the simplest mmo epic encounter formulas. All the difficulty setting does is increase the boredom factor.

Please elaborate. How do they copy MMO formula? I don't play them so I don't know.

So far, I've loved the boss battles in DA, but your right in that encounters are scripted. The same for every playthrough. It would be nice to mix this up with randomized events.

What game, besides those marketed towards multiplayer, doesn't do that?

Diablo 2, Sacred 2, maybe games like Oblivion and fallout 3, not sure. And of course GTA IV excels at random encounters.

Edit: maybe The Witcher as well. There are randomly regenerating enemies in certain areas.
