BTW you were right about Lord of the Rings..that was what was in my mind when I made the bowing parts :)

Well, at least sooomething of my post got accepted :) I suppose that's not so bad having at least having that right.

And yes, I also speak to the tv while walking through the eluvian with morrigan so either the pc or the tv I do talked to it, if we couldn't have voiced characters at least my voice was enough to reply to morrigan.

I mentioned before, I REALLY don't like Alistair.  Can't even really express how much.  So the thought of being at his wedding to the HNF - - ugghhh.

But I have seen this mod MANY times.  At various stages of production.  So I think I'm qualified to comment on it.

That said - the music was an excellent choice.  I can't think of a different piece in game that would have worked as well.

As for vows or "I do" or whatever.  Unless you were going to cut the music, create words for the Revered Mother, and somehow clip an "I do" out of Ali's dialogue, and create one for the PC, it would kind of be silly, IMO.

Now, would I have done some things differently?  Cinematically, yes.  Would those differences have been better?  Dunno.  Different isn't always better.

I agree that there are certain cinematic things that could have done better, but all in all it seems to flow well at least for me. There is always room for improvement, and cinematic choices are endless.
There are certain shots I would *never* change ..yet others I look at and say "eh" could be better. :)

Due to the late hour, (4:30 am?) I feel I was reacting a bit impulsively, so I edited my other post just so you know B)

Excellent mod! I've seen the YouTube but yet to play it with my HNF.
Suggestion - since it is Lelianna who sings the song, why not have her in the scenes actually singing the song. She is a bard after all and who else would the Warden choose to have as the singer in her wedding party.
Speaking of wedding party - why not outfit some of the companions as members of the wedding party? Who would Alistair choose as a best man - Zevran?? What about bridesmaids? Imagine Morrigan in a blue bridesmaid dress! Even Dog could wear a bow-tie collar. And Oghren partaking of the free ale!

I think music is to set the emotional tone and having an IC character singing it would not be the same.

Likewise things like bridesmaids and even vows are pretty modern, and to my mind would pull the scene out of the DA world.

I think someone else mentioned vows- that is also something that not every culture uses in its wedding ceremony.

In short, I think the scene is perfect!!

There's also the fact that due to the way the mod is done, Leliana could not even be available for the final scene.

Yea, we don't do it for instance. A marriage is handled like a contract, with witnesses, guardians and all that. After that, it's a big party, and by big I mean 200-300 people minimum. But we don't have a ceremony with vows.

good point...only thing I could have done is have someone else sing it instead of her if she happens to be gone ..originally I thought about Leliana singing it which would have been beautiful for the occasion but I dropped the idea once I got into production. Things just evolved differently...but I don't think it's a loss...there are so many ways one can go about this. the tough part is choosing one and seeing it through to the end.

Amazing! I honestly did not know what to expect when I first saw this thread's title in the forum. I certainly did not think it was going to be as awesome as what I just saw in Youtube. I must admit that I am genuinely impressed with this project. It clearly shows a lot of thought, effort and talent on your part to put it together.

I am currently in the middle of a Human Noble Female Dex/Cun DW Rogue play-through. I don't usually get involved with the romances when playing female characters. I'm male and find it a little awkward. The explanation is too long to share here. Suffice to say that with this, I am extremely tempted to place my HNF in a relationship with Alistair so I can witness a truly beautiful and wonderful ending to her story in Origins.

This project is nothing short of extraordinary. Excellent!

I just wanted to add one more thing to this:

Though you are male, I highly recommend you romancing Alistair as an HNF
you may see a side of Alistair unknown to most, and definitely a focus
of attraction for MANY females out there...he obviously must be doing
something right.

I do have my opinions of Alistair and they are really not all very pleasant, containing words like whiny, weepy, and spineless.  I will not discuss them here however as this thread is about your wonderful project and not my opinions.  But I will say opinions of him have not been without input from the female persuasion either.

It does surprise me how many people really do like Alistair.  My own female friends who are familiar and have played the game do not hold him in high regard at all.  Their opinion is he is “not man enough”.  Not my words, so please be kind.

His biggest crime according to my female friends is he doesn’t take the initiative to approach the Female Warden on his own to be friendly or to try and start something.  His bashfulness is cute, but he should have “tried”.  Blame is not really placed on him though, as it is really Bioware’s fault for scripting him this way.  Bioware would have done better if they had given Alistair some self initiated cut scenes upon entering the camp where he is shown trying.

But, I am sorry, this has gotten too long and somewhat off topic.  I have made the decision to place my current HNF in a relationship with Alistair and I promise to keep an open mind about it as you suggest.

Now to get back on the topic:

I agree with the no dialogue approach and agree with other that the music should be kept as a background theme song that sets the atmosphere of the scene.  I would more to that but others have already offered well thought out reasons for it.

Thank you once again for this project.  :)

I have to give you another kudos!!! I watched the video and it's breathtaking <3<3:wub::wub: <3<3 Your attention to detail is wonderful, and the facial expressions !!!! perfect.

I read your comment from the Gush thread, but it moves so fast by the time I went back it was 15 pages behind :P

Anyway, isn't it funny? I remember when you just were learning fraps, and even before that when you first decided to learn the toolset!!! You've come amazingly far since those days!!!!

I don't recall any of that but your post almost made me teary eyed lol

It means even I, if I try hard enough, can come up with something like this! (humor me, don't crush my hopes just yet)

Based on the comments you made about Alistair above I would suggest on your HN playthrough that you not rush the romance too much. There are definitely places where he will take the iniative.

Fantastic mod, DahliaLynn. I'm certain that this will be one of the most popular mods ever! I can't wait to hear the reactions from the powers-that-be at BioWare when they see it. Please keep us posted WHEN (not if) they respond!

This male will definitely be rolling a female noble just to experience the mod...that is, until male nobles can partake in the festivities (prays to the Maker that this will eventually be so).

Brava, DahliaLynn. Well done! :)

I can confirm that. While he might be a bit "slow", he does take the initiative a few times, which is a lot relatively speaking. I think all LI take the initiative at some point.

You know, I actually thought that if some day a Cousland / Anora wedding happens, that my PC Arcturus, while looking at Anora, would have Morrigan flash there for a few seconds as if she is the one walking up the alley (ouch for Anora, I know). But he would shrug it off very quickly.

That would be very....:crying:

I just imagined what you wrote ..and you know what I said? ....you can dooo eeeet! (if you want)^_^ why do you think I am so in love with the toolset? You have characters you already know,  are emotionally involved,  and you become the director. it's way too much fun.

Wow! Really fine work. I felt touched to see the companions all there, and it was lovely to see the emotions and gravity of the scene. It definitely gives a beautiful moment!

Yea, I might give it a shot.

Could you use a cutscene, say like your wedding, and edit it instead of starting from scratch?

Well that's a good question. If you're asking me to hand over 4 months of endless research learning and headdesking...I'm not sure I could bring myself to do that, (and hope you understand) but I can definitely help you out in creating your own once you learn your way around

Edit @MB597 Thank you ;)

That would begreat!! then again Anora to the tower and Morrigan to the altar even when she would mind having the revered mother there, but for the warden she would do it. :)

I take comfort in the fact that at least you can play the HNF and still enjoy...(for now?):bandit:

I'll put it this way, the minute I got frustrated that Alistair's first night wasn't really a first night as I felt is should have been, ...I zeroed in on the thing called the toolset and told myself nothing will stop me from creating the scene that I want to see.

If you have that same drive...I think you'll do great and I'd be happy to help:)
