Of course, part of that immersion would mean the squadmates would have to look like they're equipped to handle -40 degree environments with sheering winds...
Aside from that, the rain effect was done quite nicely, I thought. Too processing heavy for an entire mission?

If they added snow areas, i wouldn't mind seeing a accumulation of frost on the pads and stuff

Not sure why they don't have more of this in ME2. CPU shouldn't be it, the bottle neck are the consoles with their tiny memory and weather shouldn't eat too much of that.
And too be honest i thought the sandstorm on that one UNC-mission wasn't very convincing.

If the game can make the water effects look anything like what uncharted 2 did with it. Ill be Happy.

Actually, the rain effect on Pragia was amazing. Zoom in and you can see water dripping down edges on body models. Surfaces become shinier with moisture. The only thing it doesn't have an effect on is hair and cloth. But I guess wet hair that sticks to the scalp would destroy the awesomeness of shepard and human squaddies' images.

Not just rain, but the hostile environments seen on the various planets in ME1. Part of the appeal of LotSB was the sounds of hostile storms and winds at one point. Another mission with an oncoming sandstorm. The ones with thick fogs. Anything that helps give you the impression that you're on a truly alien world with its own ecosystems.
I agree 110%
I really miss the environments from ME1. Sure they were a little simplistic but they were seriously cool. Having floating asteroids go past during BDtS, crazy moonscapes and weather really adds to the whole immersion into a SciFi feel.

Actually, I claim this thread in the name of discussing weather in the Mass Effect universe. I'm in agreement with Gleym about the need for more. Very true. I agree and support this.
Actually I really like the ME1 planets with the winds and the bad visibility. Always reminded me of the first Alien Movie.

VERY TRUE INDEED!
While one could always argue that they use shields and personal ME fields instead of suits, that seems like a waste of technological recourses and like too much reliance on a system that can fail too easily. Not to mention a combat situation in which you might want armor.
We want hardsuits for all teammates back in ME3 (or even preferable in the next DLC)!!!

Yup, noveria wouldn't have been the same without the snowstorm.
Haha, funny, sometimes when I look at the early Novaria artwork (the one where we see it with a clear sky), I wonder if the devs didn't introduce the snowstorm to save themselves some work on the vista and resolve some engine issues that might have airisen from good/far reaching visibility.

Another thought I've had is that I'd love to see the change from day to night on certain worlds like Illium. Walking through that doorway and seeing the sun hanging so low in the sky with no day/night transitions gets a little old and its not like theres a need to see people there; the important people we need to talk to could be there anytime... just at night time have that quarian and volus stop talking about shorting prefabs and go away
