Just wondering about a short encounter you can have in Knotwood Hills.

If you head up the path beyond the bereskarn, you can find a spot where a man is hanging from a noose tied to one of the gnarled trees. There are two "hangmen" enemies there, who immediately attack you while shouting that "no one can know what we did!"

There's nothing notable about the spot except the two enemies and the corpse, which has a note on it saying something to the effect of "this is what happens to adulterers!" The hangmen don't have any special treasure and the only other thing that's in the area is a stand of rashvine nettles.

Does this figure into a quest somehow? Or is it a dialogue point for one of the characters? The Wiki doesn't even mention the presence of the two Hangmen as enemies.

I'm not through Awakening yet, so if there is a quest associated with this spot, excuse my ignorance.

It doesn't result in anything. I think it's just to add to the overall grimness of the world. There are a lot of hanging people in Awakening whereas the only ones I can remember in Origins are from the Korcari Wilds.

Honnleath also had them, as did Redcliffe when the darkspawn invaded.

Also, check out the scenery in Howe's dungeon; there's a number of people strung up from the rafters.

I was just wondering if there was a quest that tied into that spot, or perhaps a dialogue point.

I guess it just seemed to stand out more in Awakening. They were more background scenery instead of being part of a quest (not this one) or having enemies to kill near it. There is not a quest or dialogue point here.

I think it's part of the series of 'love sucks totally' encounters and side quests of Awakening. ;)

I've run through awakenings over ten times, and I've never had it connect to any side quest or any final thing. It just seems to be a little extra something for loot and xp.

It just seemed like one more disjointed scene that didn't really fit into much.
