I am currently Rolling a Fighter/Mage Half Elf. His stats are quite good, and he's thriving on his Fighter class. But his Mage class is not doing so well, that is because of the Miscast Armour Penalties on his armour. I installed the Tweak pack and it 'said' that it removed these...I guess it didn't install properly. Is there a way to get rid of this nuisence?

If not, please could I have some advice on what armour to wear? I am puzzled though, for Jaheira can cast her Priest spells with no problem at all, and she has the same penalty (40%) to miscast as I.

Thanks alot simfamSP

jaheira use divine magic which unlike mage uses arcane magic. Divine magic isnt restricted by armor and thus its why she can cast "divine" magic(lets just call it prayers) w/o any chance to miscast. I dont think the tweak pack remove it but instead make it so you can actually cast arcane magic with armors but with a certain chance to fail depending on what you wear. Normally you cant use arcane magic if you are wearing anything else than robes(or elven chainmail in bg2). Anyway just a tip, you dont really need an armor with  fighter/mage, just use the lvl1 spell armor and it should give you decent AC while still able to cast spell w/o any miscast.

The mod Item Revisions expands this with an option of spell casting time rather than spell casting failure. For example, casting spells in plate mail will take longer than casting spells in leather armour. You get the option of having this for arcane only spells or with divine spells too. I don't know how well I explained that, it's been a long day...

Hmmm... but still is there any other option? I wasn't really planning on that, I have gone half way through and I don't wish to start again...

There is also another option when installing the component to have NO penalties for casting in any armour. But this is obviously cheese and will make the game far too easy.

I agree, so is there any link to this? Can I download in G3?

All you really need to do is type 'Item Revisions' into google ... but in case you aren't able to do such a thing, here is the link.

There is certain armour you can use with no miscast later on in the game. Until then, the robes and spells will do the trick. For the most part you really don't *need* armour.
