Hi guys. I'm new here so if this question is lame please forgive. Anyway, I just installed DA:O this evening and then patched it. THEN I attempted to redeem my codes for the DLC. Once I did this I noticed that under the in game "installed content" tab it showed that the DLC was in fact there but it said "Required Game Version 1.0" and the 1.0 was in red. So I just reinstalled the game and the DLC and now the "Required Game Version 1.0" is in normal color. I have not installed the patch yet. My question is this, if I install the patch will the DLC that I already have downloaded still work? I don't understand why the first time after installing the patch the "Version 1.0" was in red. Can anyone help me with this please? Thank you so much!
How compatible is the current DLC with the new patch?

Sorry to post twice but I had 1 more question. After scanning the forums a bit here I see that many people seem to be having trouble since installing the patch. Is it best to not patch just yet? Or do you all think it's a good idea to go ahead and patch? Thank you!

I got abot the same question here....i patched the game then got the grey warden DLC, but as i talk to the npc for the quest, I can't accept it, the location doesn't show on map and the quest doesn't appear in my journal....tried to talk to him several time but nothing wored, even restarting the game didnt do any good.....since I paid for that content i'd be happy to have it working...=/

install the patch, we have a Fix for every issue that can actually be tied to the patch (that is to say not something wrong on the end-user's machine) Also the DLC works fine, but if you have problems there's a DLC FAQ sticky that has answers to all the DLC issues encountered so far on PC

I have the same problem, and no the sticky does not answer this problem.
1. Install game.
2. Patch game.
3. Download DLCs (any of them).
4. Patch Version required: 1.0 is in RED and download progress bar will also turn red and FAIL.
There should be a specific sticky issue related to "patch 1.1 then DLC fails". All that other noise is not the problem. It isn't a C++ issue. It isn't a OS/folder/environment issue.
It is a DLC versioning issue in the face of the patch being present. And it must be a very common thing people are hitting since anyone who patches then downloads any DLC will see this happen, so it is worthy of a specific fix line item don't you think?
Please post a SPECIFIC fix on the sticky thread (and put a line item for it in the TOC at the top of that thread) for that as I do not want to manually bypass or hack up my system. This stuff should work out-of-box.

Redmond...thanks for your input. This is my situation as it stands now. As I stated earlier I uninstalled the game then re-installed it then downloaded the DLC. I have not done the patch yet. The downloading of the DLC went perfectly at Version 1.0. Downloaded and installed to game flawlessly. So now I'm scared to install the patch. I don't want to mess up any progress I've already made. I might just play as is for awhile to see how this thing plays out.

if you have the DLC already and then patch you'll be fine (make sure to get the fix from the 1.01 patch thread just in case) I installed DLC and patched with no problems whatsoever.
@redmond... did you check the DLC FAQ? they've been doing all the troubleshooting for the DLC issues in there... I believe the solution to your problem is to run the configuration program, find "repair" in the left list, and choose "clear download cache"... if you're auto logging in, you might need to log out and then relog in after you clear the cache

yeah thanks for your post redmond.
This specific issue isn't answer in the sticky thread. I didnt have any problem downloading or seeing the DLC, the quest will is just refusing to activate self, nothing show on map nor in the quest journal, bue the NPC is responding so the DLC's properly installed.
And please i'd like a direct answer/fix for this, not being send from side to send on the ofrum, cause it's getting annoyong, as fionding a specific issue on that said sticky DLC thread is a pain.

@ Tenneck I apologize but posting the same fix over and over is also a pain... the fix is there... usually disabling the content, force loading the save, saving... re-enabling the DLC and loading the new save will correct the problem.

@JironGhrad well actually I was hoping to hear that "we are on it"... because it's not my responsibilty to dig in the forums to find the solution of a problem which is BIOWARE's or EA's fault. I've tried everything written on the sticky, non worked for me. May be I am doing something wrong... I do NOT care! If the solution is there, READ it and RELEASE a patch to FIX it!!!

@Belgameth As I've stated elsewhere, these are peer-to-peer support forums. IF you want actual tech support you need to go to http://help.dragonage.com
further, which problem are you having?

version mismatch is my problem, can't install the DLCs downloaded them but unable to install them. also can't find the DAZip files to install them manually, my AddIns folder is empty somehow. I ve deleted and downloaded the game (which takes my 2 days) from steam but nothing changed.

did you try clearing the download cache?

The sticky does actually help...if you're running the PC Version.
# In DA:O Launcher, click configure and then Repair and click the button "Clear Download Cache"
(I take no credit, I just cut and pasted from the sticky)
I had the same problem and once I did this it downloaded...the files are rather big, so they can take a while. Hopefully this helps.
Edit: Jiron just beat me to it.

So JironGhrad...are you certain that if I patch the game my DLC will be ok? Because my game is running great right now with all the DLC and I don't want to screw it up! LOL

It says it's downloaded when I click retry it says "Extracting" and after a few seconds, tells me failed. All my DLCs have the same problem btw. non could be installed.

@Belgameth
I believe there's a fix for the extracting but failed on the 1st page of the DLC FAQ
....0.1.8. All of the DLC are stuck at 100% in my Download Content tab in the game.
Select the DLC, in the right pane is a description of the DLC and a little picture. Underneath the description is a DOWNLOAD button. Try it to force the download.
Try 3.2.2 just to check if the service crapped on you.
3.1.3.1 and 3.1.3.2 is a must to test in this situation
Very important also 3.1.1
Kick start the service so it can redetect your DLC and such, use 3.3.1 for that
Manually install the DLC that is giving problem, use 4.2 in with 4.1 as reference.
Very last resort, reinstall the service with 3.2.4

@ Fourstar the only issues that we've been able to tie directly to the patch are the failed start from the play button, the broken link in Vista/Win 7, the impulse issue and the issue with D2D. All the DLC issues that have come up are side-effects of other things and not directly related to the patch itself... I do suggest getting the play button fix, just in case it's here

you're welcome Bel... we're doing our best here and not getting anything for it (Although I've gotten flamed quite a bit for pointing out that I've had none of the problems reported here. It's ironic really since both Yougamer's "Game-o-meter" and the "SystemRequirementsLab" both say I shouldn't be able to run the game at all.)

Thanks again, people like you make it easier for us.
Btw, I gotto ask 1 more thing. When I try to force to always run Daorigins.exe or daupdater as administrator my steam says "the game can not be launched" when I cancel the "run as administrator" thing from the proporties of those files it works again. so the steps 3.1.3.1-3.1.3.2 are useless for me I guess. I have Vista 64bit

hmmm... if you're interested in trying those options you can download the digital version from EA and use the steam keys to run the program, that would rule out the possibility of a steam error

gonna try that too if nothing helps me. I've found there may be some issues about the regional settings of windows. I live in Turkey, and my windows is Turkish people say that, it may cause the problem. That info didn't help me a bit tho, I am just telling you this, may be it helps for solving other peoples problems.
