Does anybody have any idea what this could be related to? I've reinstalled DX 9 and I know that framework 2.0 is installed.

This is on Windows 7
64 Bit
at least 6 gig Ram
Intel I7
and a very good ATI Radeon HD 4800 series GPU.

Related drivers are all up to date as far as I know, DX 9, Newest Catalyst, Net 2.0 comes with Windows 7.

Occasionally it will load an area without a hitch for no apparant reason while it will normally crash.

I've tried disabling catalyst AI, removing override folder, reinstlaling DX 9 & Net 2.0 (2.0 -> Can't for some reason)

Thanks in advance! Posted Image

We need system specs, including specifics on your GPU and what drivers you are using.

Are you loading the game from a drive other than your OS base drive? Are you running other applications in the bacground (although it's hard to imagine actually using up 6G of RAM...) Do you possibly have a corrupted save? Also, have you run this without problems before the new Radeon Video Card? That might be an issue.

In other words, since the last time you knew things were fine, what have you done to the system as regards any changes made?

Also, I note you're running Win7 64, are you using a 64bit .Net Framework? That could be an issue too.

I can only answer negative to all your questions. Radeon worked before I upgraded to Win 7.
Net 2.0 64 bit says it's already installed when I download it.

I've got ZoneAlarm and AVG running in the background as wel as Ambx ambient surround.

No external drive :(

I'm completely stumped!

Does your AVG have a "Game" mode? My Bitdefender does and I believe that's an AVG product. Sometimes the AV programs have to be 'told' what programs can access some portions of your processor's functions (don't know the details on this or I'd explain it better) to prevent some actions that might act like a trojan or worm. I had to tell my AV which programs and which games could access some things in order to play them without a crash. Could this be the issue?

Other than that, I'd start thinking maybe corrupted files if it crashes only on module load and then only some modules and not others.

Still willing to grab at more straws here, though it's getting slimmer I'll provide anything useful.

I've added it to the exception list of resident shield with no luck, good suggestions though.

I'm starting to think it's .net related somehow. Windows 7 comes with net 2.0 so I can't reinstall it, does anybody have clue on what to do in this situation?

I've downloaded a registry fixer for net 2.0 which seems to have done the trick. I don't want to know what it all broke but this seems to work again :)

Could you provide a link for the registry fixer for that? It would come in handy to help sort out others in the future and could be one more thing to add to the list of things to attempt when troubles come up.

This one is for the registry correction tool: http://support.micro...om/?kbid=951950

Net framework uninstallation tool: http://blogs.msdn.co...28/8904493.aspx

And this one is general .net troubleshooting: http://blogs.msdn.co...07/8108332.aspx

The first tool fixes something in your registry, the second tool removes the net framework. Use with caution and as last resort. Posted Image
