I never really like Carver, but Legacy is his very funny to have along. Better than Bethany for once, although all of hawks family gained some depth in character.

I've loved you before, but now I love you even more, you "lovable lug with more sword than sense" (to quote Varric). *pinches cheeks*

SPOILERS

I nearly died from my Sarcastic Hawke and Carver's "you don't always need the last word" spat after Malcom's Will. The look on Hawke's face like he's trying SO HARD not to say anything.
Also between that 'father didn't want his child to have magic' comment and throwing Leandra's Death in my Hawke's face at the end of act 2 Carver cemented himself in my eyes as King of Insesative Jerks. That's ok though because it makes being a sacrastic ass to him that much more fun.
I love watching the bickering back and forth, I think Carver and Hawke both told each other to shut up on different occasions in party banter.

Legacy was very interesting, to say the least. I just finished it. Naturally, I'm still processing everything that happened.

As far as family goes, it was probably the best part of the entire DA2 experience. We got a lot more insight in the Hawkes. Friendly-Warden Carver was awesome. He actually laughed at a joke from Snarky!Hawke! I was absolutely shocked. The end dialogue to Malcolm's Will, and the end of Legacy itself really made me wish for a brograb option in dialogue.

Awesome writing Luke, and for the rest of the team. Well worth the 10$.

Ohh wow   =)   Well, I always wanted to have one Hawke took the friendship path instead of rivalry. It's the little changes that makes it worth it.

And I agree, this dlc was well worth the money, played it with two FemHawkes so far. The next one will have her chance this weekend   :)

Is there any approval to be gained from Carver in Legacy DLC? I got a single +5 friendship, and that was all!

Yes. I got +15 (or was it 25? can't remember) with my diplomatic Hawke when we had a conversation about our past in the Deep Roads. Also, I got another +5 when siding with Larius.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it.

I got a +25 in the dialogue after Malcolm's Will, when Carver talks about missing Hawke and the rest of the family. That might be because Garrett took a break from being snarky and was diplomatic in that dialogue.

That was it! Thank you.

It was driving me mad because I couldn't exactly remember how much approval I got after our conversation.

I've got +25 with a GW!Carver when I was diplomatic and +15 for being sarcastic.
Templar Carver (rival) gave me nothing but +5 ( for siding with Larius). Seems like he didn't enjoy our talk about his choice of career. And I was being nice, too!

The family moments were the greatest thing about Legacy, it had an emotional impact on par with some of the better ME2 loyalty missions when it came to characterization. I played it with Warden!Carver and Circle!Bethany, and the both of them came off as incredibly rich and vibrant characters. What I liked even more after playing them both was that you got Bethany characterization in the Carver story and vice versa. The whole Carver jig, for one.

^ I totally agree. It's what I wish was in the vanilla game.

One thing I thought they could've done was to at least let Carver (or Bethany) send letters that you could respond to after Act 1.

Maybe 1 or 2 letters that come after you finish a main quest, which you could respond to. It would have been a good way to keep that family connection they were touting when promoting DA2.

It also would have been a cool way to get approval or rival points based on your responses, furthering the relationship in either direction.

Carver tries to ask Merrill on a date in the DLC, how adorable!  My Carver/Merrill ship is validated.

Who doesn't have sexual chemistry with Isabela, though?  Isabela does not have ships; she has party barges.  Love her so much.

He acknowledgse Merrill and Sebastian.  He doesn't directly acknowledge Isabela, but when he tries to flirt with Isabela, Hawke will intervene if s/he romanced her.  I don't think he has anything to say about Fenris or Anders.

His tone implies that he's jealous.  If Hawke doesn't romance Merrill, he awkwardly asks her if she wants to go to the Hanged Man sometime; it's pretty adorable.  (Though I don't know why he would think the Hanged Man is a good place for a date, unless he wants Isabela, Varric, and Hawke to be spying and butting in the entire time.)

Anyway, the dialogue is roughly like this:

Carver: So... you and Merrill, huh?
Hawke: Yes, Merrill and I.
Carver: Well, that's just great.

I'd really like to see a video complimation of Carver/Bethany's reaction to the LIs, or their interaction with them if they haven't been. I'd love to see Carrill! Though that  painfully reminds me that I need to work on my fanfic more. :pinched:
