They seem to be past the age where the hero-worship applies. Usually that stops once they hit the teens, and then you're just their lame sister/brother.
Well they might still secretly look up to you but they'd never admit it.
I suppose it depends on the individuals and the family. I'm sure it's evolved from the days when they may have followed him/her around and gotten into his/her things. The people I adored or idolized in childhood (well, mostly) I still look up to as an adult; just the intensity and particulars have changed.
Perhaps "hero worship" wasn't the best choice of words, either. I should probably have just said that I hoped that they looked up to Hawke.
